I hope someone will be able to help me. I am trying to find out which University my Grandfather Harry James Swift went to. He was born in Walsall in 1877 and he was a Science Professor. I have been told that he worked at the Quintin School in Londion. If someone could point me in he right direction I would be very grateful

The use of the term professor did not always mean that he was at a university. It also denoted a teacher.
Have you any other information from his children?

Thanks for your message. All the information above is correct. in 1911 he was living at 60 Drayton Gardens with his parents Robert and Emily. I have in my possession the stole that students wore over the gown when graduating. It is ivory coloured and was worn under the chin with the ends over the shoulders. Does this help

If you use the links that I have posted, then you should get it touch with Regent Street Polytechnic to see if they can advise.
They may hold lists of students. He was a student in 1901, so of around that date for graduation.
If he taught at Quintin but was a student elsewhere, they may still have information.

Another google search gave:
https://netcommunities.wmin.ac.uk/page.aspx?pid=677
for archive email

This looks to be the current gown for a University of Westminster science student, but Quintin could easily have been completely different:

Added:
Just read post, will look up Imperial now.

Trying to get a link to work;
Just put this in as a search and then open the pdf, gives the outfits
