I am trying to track down any living relatives of pears soap chairman and advertising pioneer Thomas James Barratt. Barratt was born in St Pancras in 1841 and married Mary Pears in 1865. I know he had at least two children, sons called Thomas and Kenneth who were 18 and 16 in 1911.

Hi Alexander. Have you checked for matches by using search box above? Also, on the face of it the sons seem a bit young to be from that marriage, and in addition are not with him 1901 - might he have 'adopted' them?

The Ancestry tree is extensively researched by the looks of it. Assuming it isn't yours you might do well to contact the tree owner! Jan

Looking at these trees not sure about these older children they seem to belong to another couple living in the USA in 1880
He lived in the uk all his life from what I can see...so I would discount them

Have you tried looking for info about them?
http://www.freebmd.org.uk/
If he was as famous as your post suggests, there must be info to be found by googling
Have you any info about his 'sons', apart from the 1911 census?

Odd that the parents aren't named...........
BARRATT, KENNETH FRANKLIN
Rank: Lieutenant Date of Death: 01/07/1916 Age: 21 Regiment/Service: Essex Regiment 3rd Bn. attd. Machine Gun Corps Panel Reference Pier and Face 10 D. Memorial THIEPVAL MEMORIAL Additional Information: Of Bell-Moor, Hampstead Heath, London.
Perhaps not, though, as there is NO birth for his name, or for Thomas's
Clearly not the natural children of the couple you name as marrying in 1866

US TV series Mad Men returns to British screens tomorrow night and we’ve uncovered Victorian London’s very own Don Draper in our newspaper archive. Thomas J Barratt married into the Pears soap family and with his creative flair boosted the brand with his use of slogans such as “Good Morning, have you used Pears soap?” Read more on this his story here: http://bit.ly/14TAYqf
