Please don't take this the wrong way, but as you never knew this wee boy, what can you hope to gain by identifying his father?

I am not looking to contact him, I also doubt he want to know me. All I want is to know the name of my brothers father and nothing more.

As the poor child died, wouldn't it be better to let this lie, especially as your mother is also deceased..

There is no connection whatsoever between the boy's father and you...............and I doubt very much that the man would welcome contact from you

If your mother had wanted you to know the man's name, I'm sure she would have told you.

Well dont think you will find out other than from family . As Penny says what would be gained anyway

Indeed they would but I am not in contact with my grandparents. Sorry, probably should have said that.

What about your grandparents are they still alive? they would know who father was surely ??

Especially as grandad had a go at him at one time.

David Millard is my half brother (same mum, different dads) and I am trying to trace David's father but I have hit a brick wall. Nobody seems to know anything. My mums best friend since childhood knew little of note and it is the same story with my aunt and uncle.

What I know is this:

1 - David Jack Millard was born in January 1985 and died in March of the same year, aged 8 weeks and 5 days.

2 - Our mother is called Katrina Jane Millard and was 16 when David was born though she passed away 7 years ago.

3 - David's father was tall and broad-shouldered though my grandfather still managed to throw him against a wall.

4 - Baby David died of SIDS or sudden infant death syndrome. I don't know the exact dates.

5 - I have a vague idea baby David was named after his father and he was older than our mother but I don't know how true this actually is.

6 - David is buried in Lyne, Surrey, so presumably was born nearby. Although he now has a headstone, this was only put in place in the early to mid 1990's.

Nothing about David's dad is on the birth or death certificates. If it even possible to trace him or not? If so, how?
