As Reggie has suggested, try the stonemasons.

On your next visit, check the rear to see if they are named. The Cemetery staff might do that if you can't get there.

If you wrote an open letter addressed to whoever arranged the most recent internment, would the Cemetery people be willing to pass it on do you think?

I was going to say, camp out by the grave, but that would be rather extreme.
Could you actually leave a message by the grave, asking them to contact you, obviously with a bit of background information? Anonymous-type email address if you want.

If you search for Florence Cullen on 192.com, you will (probably) find her and John showing in Coventry in 2002. There are a few Florence M Cullens showing after 2002, but Leicester looks most likely.
So if it is her, her death may be under Leicester papers.
I cannot see an obvious marriage forJohn to Florence M.
But if they did move to Leicester after Coventry, this looks like his death

Thanks for the reply. To be honest putting the message onto this thread is a bit of a last resort! The cemetery staff will only confirm that John's remains are cremated ashes - but as we can't prove that we are relatives they will release no further information to us - certainly in connection of any family relationships!
I think the newspapers will be the next port of call as you suggest.
It's all rather mysterious. I first found the grave back in early 2003 when it was a plain whte stone with my wife's great-grandfather's name written on in black pen! Some time later, when we visited during a trip to Coventry, the stone had been replaced with a marvellous black marble affair and both names were inscribed in gold. Florence's name has appeared since and the plot is beautifully kept.
Oh well, keep grinding away I suppose.

Hi Ian.
As the chances of anybody who knows them seeing this are pretty remote, have you considered doing a bit of delving? I would suggest having a look at local newspapers for notices of the funerals, especially Florence's as it might name some family members. You could then have a look for them on 192.com, Facebook etc.
Might it be worth asking the staff at the cemetery what significance there is - if any - in sharing the same plot?

I would be very interested to hear from anyone connected with John CULLEN or his wife Florence May CULLEN. John died 30 December 2003 and his cremated remains were interred in Canley cemetery - in the same plot as my wife's great-grandparents. However we have no knowledge at all of any connections with the CULLEN name.
John's widow Florence May died 30 May 2011 and is interred in the same plot.
A relative has spent a lot of time and effort on the grave and we would dearly like to get in touch.
