not seeing the parents marriage .maybe her mum had been married before.

Looks like you need Betty's birth cert for her parents names

Have you looked for family of Betty. siblings etc . You may find family info in a round about way that will have family photos.

I guess I did not explain myself very well.When I said ' why should they know ' I meant that, ' maybe their mother thought it best not to or neccesary to tell her ' new ' family about her little boy.
I have no hang ups or grudges about anything or anybody. I would love to meet up with any of the family, if they wanted to meet up with me. I would understand if they did not want to rake up the past, but if only I had a picture of my mum.

You say why should your half sisters need to now about you but if you want info on your mum surely they would need to know you ?? Mean if you find their current addresses surely you would make some sort of contact.

It may be they were told about you ,you wont know unless you make contact or am I getting things wrong ??.


You could start with getting Betty,s death cert to see who the informant was.

I am Keith Hamlyn and my mother was Betty J. Hamlyn, that is on my Birth Certificate. I was born in 1946, reg Bushey Herts. I was placed into care and fostered. I have a family of my own and I am very happy. I never knew my father.
My research, so far tells me my mother had two girls Susan and Gillian. They are both married.
My guess is, they do not know about me, why should they need to, we are nothing to each other.I would just like to know what my mother was like and to be able to look at a photo of her. I thank everyone for their comments and advice.

You need your birth cert to find out 'who you are'

'Step-family' means that your father married Betty....................but Betty only married once............to Mr Cross

The birth date given on that death record would be right for the birth of Betty J. Hamlyn:-
