Hi my name is Ann Fitter (nee Hevingham), and I am trying to research my paternal family name which is Hevingham. I am originally from Aston in Birmingham, but have relatives in other places. I would be very happy to hear from anyone in the family who is researching the name, and maybe we could chat and compare notes. If there is anyone out there who may be related, please do get in touch. Many thanks - Ann |

The chances of anyone connected reading your post are minimal. |

Is this the marriage of your grandparents, as they appear to have had quite a large family? |

If you hope for contact from other members, you should put your ancestors in your GR tree |

Hi, tahnk you for your input. I am not very good at this yet, and yes I have used the BMD etc, it is just that the name spelling seems to alter so much, it gets a little confusing. I have not been active with my search for a while now, as I have been undergoing treatment for cancer, but feel now is the time to get back to it, so thanks for the advice, I will carry on and see what I can find out. |

P.S. That marriage is indeed my grand-parents. |

You may need to obtain the 1919 marriage cert for confirmation of paternal details for the bride and groom |

You really should look in 'search all trees', and try to make contact with other GR members who are researching the same family |

The way to find parental info for Thomas is to purchase his marriage cert |

OK......your info was from 1851..............not 1841 |

my mistake - thank you for pointing that out, but it still does not help me to find their bitrth details, or anything relating to their parents - I have scoured the birth records for all of them, but as yet have found nothing! Another thing I would mention is that the spelling is, as our name, and spelled Hevingham on the census record I have, and yet on the info you have it is mis-spelled - as Henngham, this is one of the problems I keep encountering, there appears to be a multitude of spellings, and this is another thing that is causing some of the problems - I am sorry if you find me a nuisance, but as I said at the start, I am no expert, and am learning as I go, I would never have thought that an unusual name like mine would be so hard to research. |

Just putting the 1841 census, Thomas is in the same household, age 1 1/2, living with Joseph Barnett, locksmith, age 20 (?) |

thank you, seems very strange I can't find anything either - but its the first I have heard of anyone called Joseph Barnett - strange though Mr Picken was also a locksmith - could be their births were never registered |

Have you done anything yet about making contact with other members? |
