If his birth certificate doesnt show any change of surname but his later siblings do then perhaps he needs to legally do it to the surname hes always used---he can get it done by deepoll, as legally anything requiring a legal proof of name will be his birth certificate,,,,,,which is not the surname hes always used or been known by.

If he married with his new name or requested a passport, there may be difficulties proving that the person named on the birth certificateis now your husband.
I agree with Reggie that you can call yourself whatever you wish, but it may be wise to ask expert help or maybe get a sworn statement of some sort.

You can call yourself whatever you wish, as long as there is no intent to deceive or defraud

hi just a query if anybody could help please?

my husband parents changed the family name after he was born but original birth cert was lost so applied for a new one which was under his original birth name. his brothers/sisters had a stamp saying it was changed on their birth certs. do i have to get a letter or other docments to say he name was changed or does it not matter?
many thanks
