After four years of research I have traced my Grandmothers family, but am nowhere close to tracing my Grandfather Charles Walter Adams born 1860? and married to Eliza Mary Smith. They produced children Dorothy known as Dolly, Peter, John ,Charles Walter Jnr my Father, Sidney, Douglas, Esther Victoria, Elizabeth and Frederick. |

Maybe the above is right, if they married well after birth of Esther, assuming this is her: |

This is indeed my family. They had eight children before marrying in 1922 and had one after. He always stated that he was born in Leighton Buzzard but his information on his first marriage certificate to Margaret Rosenberg and the information given when he married Eliza was different. Which is the fact we do not know. |

On the first marriage certificate he stated that his Father was Joseph a florist, but on the second his Father was William a railway worker. We know for sure that they are both him as we know who he married the first time. Puzzling. We wonder if he was an immigrant and tried to cover it up. |

I assume Charles' age and occupation match for both certs? |

This is Walter Charles rather than Charles Walter - are you sure you have the right man? |
