Find Living Relatives

I am searching for my first cousins, Anne and Mary Markland, the daughters of my Father's (Gordon) brother, Rowland and his wife Anne. They were born in c1947 and c1946 in Bolton. After my Father's death I found a letter from Anne (now Anne Shearer) from an address in Orkney. I wrote to her but the letter was returned as "gone away".

Thanks Shirley, Rowland's death is definitely the York one. He had left or divorced his wife and was living with someone call Betty at the time of his death.
It is possible that the daughter Anne married Alan Shearer in Scotland so that is why we can't find the registration. I will send for the Rowland/Anne marriage certificate,
it may shine some light onto whether or not she had been married before.

You can look on Scotlands people for a possible marriage. It pay to view but very reasonable .after c 1911 you cant view the actual cert info but can order a cert through the site cost£10

I have sent a message to Anne Markland on GR, but she doesn't come up as a tree match on her father, mother or sister so I'm not holding out much hope.
Have also sent for the marriage certificate of Rowland and Anne - this should tell be whether she was single or widowed.

Got the marriage certificate of Rowland Markland and Anne Morton Murray - a spinster and state registered nurse from Kirkwall, Orkney, so presumably after they split she went back there with the girls.

Found Anne -thanks to all who helped, it's only taken 65 years.
