I have also found that the Mr Boxall you contacted had a daughter called Julie not Julia so is it the same person? was he estranged from his daughter as he had remarried in 1972 and he seems to have sadly died in 2004....If it is the same man who told you they were in Manchester they could be anywhere now at least 8 years later

I wonder if it would be more worth your while to contact Norcap .............. this is a well-established and reputable UK registered charity and support group that was established almost 30 years ago to help adults with search and reunion issues and handle their feelings about the effect of adoption.

You have to realise that no-one can see the details on an English birth marriage or death certificate without buying it ............. and I'm pretty certain that was the case also in the mid 1990s.

For example, there is no way to know the mother's full name (other than her surname) without looking at the actual certificate, and that means buying it.

I'm really puzzled how that guy managed to find the information he gave you without having access to the certificates!

Also, women who gave up their babies for adoption before 1970 did it on the understanding that it would be a closed adoption, and their name would never be released.

Rules have changed .............. and Norcap was set up to help.

People register on there who wish to make contact with their adoptive parents and siblings.

It might be one way to find your mum's siblings, if not her mum

the web address is www.norcap.org.uk/

There is of course a charge! The initial charge for the Locate and Make Contact Service is £125. The balance can be paid in three further monthly instalments of £125 each. The Locate and Make Contact service includes both the location and the intermediary elements of the Service. You will not be asked to pay more however long the search takes unless the clear evidence is found that your relative has gone overseas.

I just remember that Lloyd and Beverly were born in the 1950's but I can't remember exact years and I do not know where. And I don't know how much it matters but Marie's middle name is spelled Pamelia (not Pamela) on the birth certificate.

I also am wondering how he found the records.

I have found a birth record for the other girl ......... TWO records, in the same year, in different parts of England, and nowhere near where your mum was born.

No sign of the boy, at all.

No proof that the Marie who married was also Marie Pamela ..... there is no sign of a second name, not even the initial.

It's all very strange.

Do you know approx where and when Lloyd and Beverley were born?

I am not saying his findings were wrong, but am wondering how he found them?

Jeanette

Jeanette Report 21 May 2012 04:04

To my knowledge he did not supply proof. I guess we just never questioned whether the information he provided was correct since it seemed to fit. Like Marie named my mom Lynette Ann and then gave her next child the same initials by naming him Lloyd Ashley and then gave her next daughter the same middle name Ann. Maybe we shouldn't have been so trusting?

If he physically went to locate these records....did he not supply proof? birth certs for Lloyd and Beverley or the marriage cert which did not include the name Pamela.

How do you know this is the same Marie? marrying 13 years after your mother was born?

Thank you Jax. I wish I could answer those questions about how Mr. Foster found the information he gave us. I just know The International Locator, Inc gave told us that Mr. Foster would physically go and locate records for us. Also I mistakenly said his first name was Robert but it is Raymond. My apologies.

Yes certificates can be purchased from

http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/

£9.25 including postage

If that was the only infomation your mother had on Marie I am still confused how this person could find out about any other children and a marriage hundreds of miles from where she was living in 1952...then for LLoyd to again move hundreds of miles to marry in Surrey.

The name Smith is not an easy one to trace either

First I want to thank you all for your help! :-) On my mom's birth certificate it indicates that her mother is "Marie Pamelia Wilson a sewing machinist of 28 Kildare Terrace, Paddington" and Marie's father's name is not listed. There is no other identifying information listed about Marie. There also is no information about who my mother's father was either. In September 1952 the Brentford County Court issued her adoption papers. Only Marie was listed as mother. No father or sibling information was listed. In 1995 we were given the name of Robert Foster of Middlesex to contact to help in our search. Mr. Foster is the one that told us about Marie's other children, Lloyd Ashley and Beverly Ann. Also that Marie married John Smith in 1965 and he then adopted Lloyd and Beverly. I believe Lloyd and Beverly's surname was Wilson prior to their adoption. Mr. Foster also found that Lloyd had married Julia and that Julia's father's name is J.C.T Boxall. We even found Mr. Boxall phone number and called him but sadly he could not help us find Julia and Lloyd as he had not had contact with them in many years. He last knew that they lived in Manchester (and that would have been about when they married in 1977).
Does anyone know if it is possible for me to get a copy of Marie's 1965 marriage certificate?

Do you mean that Lloyd was also surname WILSON?
I can't see a birth with the same mother's maiden name.

I can see the marriage in 1965 but it was just for a Marie Wilson do you have the marriage cert giving her age and fathers name?

Were these other two children mentioned in your mothers adoption records?

Hello Jax,
We had some research done about 15 years ago by someone in England (I do not know the man's name however) and that is what he told us. And I do not know where they lived and when. I got the location information listed above through this website when I searched the birth and marriage records. By the way, I like your name! I have a son named Jaxxon! :-) Thanks for your help!

Hi Jeanette welcome to the boards

Can you say how you know that Lloyd and his sister were adopted by John Smith and were they living in Cumberland then moved to surrey?

Jeanette

Jeanette Report 20 May 2012 03:20

I am looking for my mom's relatives. She was born Lynette Ann Wilson in Paddinton on January 30, 1950 to Marie Pamelia Wilson. Later Marie had two more children, Lloyd Ashley and Beverly Ann (I could be mistaken and her name may be Barbara Ann). I appears Marie married John Smith in 1965 in Cumberland and he adopted Lloyd and Beverly. Lloyd married Julia Boxall in 1977 in Surrey. That is all I know at this point. Thank you for any help you can give.
