Sorry to have confused. I am fine with the details about William H whitear and his marriage to phyllis. They were married and had the child William R in 1942. They later divoriced and he married again ( I am one of the children of that second marriage). I just can't find what happened to Phyllis or the child born to them in 1942 who would be my half brother. I guess he could have died or changed his name if his mother also remarried. Not to worry. Thanks for looking things up for me; I appreciate the help. Linda

Yes, I decided it was probably completely wrong, but did not want to ignore the obvious.
However, if Phyllis married Linda's Father, what surname is she going by?

Linda's Father appears to be a Whitear, so I am completely confused.

Linda's father is William H Whitear.
OK
Get his later marriage certificate to see whether he claimed widowed or divorced.
Also, the first marriage certificate for information about her, as her name is not uncommon.

However, nothing yet showing for William R.

Think the death Patchem posted is for Phyllis M Humphries, born in 1914 and married to Sidney Whitear in 1934 - so doubt it's the right one.

This is the marriage of the parents:
Marriages Dec 1939
Melhuish Phyllis M Whitear Birmingham
Whitear William H Melhuish Birmingham
Who could both still be alive

This could possibly be Phyllis's death, but as there were no other siblings I wondered if one of the parents had died in the 1940's and then the other might have remarried:

Birth Date: 4 Mar 1914
Date of Registration: Nov 2001
Age at Death: 87
Registration district: Norwich
Inferred County: Norfolk
Register Number: E31B
District and Subdistrict: 6391E
Entry number: 71

Also, this does not cross-check with a Phyllis M Melhuish birth.

I have only been able to find a birth record for him and nothing more. I believe my father was married to his mother at one time. thanks

He appears to have been born in Totnes, Devon.
What sort of information are you looking for, and what is your connection to him?
What information have you found, so we do not duplicate?

You can find his birth on free bmd, and using his Mother's maiden name you can find the marriage of his parents.
There do not appear to be any siblings.

Does anyone know anything about a William R Whitear born 1942? His mother's first name was Phyllis and his father was William. Many thanks
