In Scotland a family surname is given to keep it alive and forms many surnames being commonly termed as double barrell,,,,,,perhaps Campbell is from the mothers line? as both Bowes and Campbell are Scottish in origin. |

I am the daughter of Robert Campbell Bowes, born in Malton 1906, i have found quite a few Bowes family relatives through my searches. But have no idea whom my fathers father was, it seems to be a big secret, as he was brought up my his grandparents in Hovingham(know who his mum was, just curious about the father) i might have left it to late to find out, but i just wondered if any one out there could help.
