I am trying to trace a man I believe to be my grandfather. His name is (or was if I'm too late) Terrence Powell. He was born in Wales, i think in the 1930's. He worked as a plasterer in Stoke-on-Trent in 1954/5. He tried to make contact with my father on a number of occasions, the last time being in the 70's. My father didn't want to upset my grandmother at the time who had just lost her husband. If you know anything, please get in touch!! |

If you are sure there are 2 R's in his name, there are far fewer - but you have to be sure! |

Nope, they didn't marry!! She fell pregnant with my dad with then decided to marry 'the other guy'. I'm not 100% sure on the spelling either. I'm just hoping someone on here might see something and get in touch as I know he did want contact with my dad. |

There are 2 Terence Powells marrying in Stoke in 1964 and 1972 (also 2001 but a bit late really!). Something of a long shot, but if all else fails you could get the certs to see if the occupation matches. |

Thanks, thats really helpful. Unfortunately, I don't know anymore at the moment, although I am still trying to find stuff out. My dad said that he thought terrence was from Swansea (def south wales) & I did find 1 Terrence Powell on here born in Swansea. I messaged the lady whose tree he was on & she said that all she knew was that he had a sister called Patricia (interestingly, the Terrence that married in Stoke in '64 married a Patricia!) & believed he died in the 1970's, a bachelor. |

But you say you do not know how his name is spelt? Terrence is pretty unusual. Unless you have a reason for the spelling, you have to go with Terence also. The one marrying in 1964 has one L only in his name. |
