If you know the area or church where the baptism took place I think checks can be made by the church to find the information.

My son and daughter in law had to provide baptism details before they could marry in CofE church.

My daughter couldn't marry in church because her husband had not been baptised.

All in last 6 years.

I guess this may be for a RC wedding where this would be required.

she can web search the RC churches in Bidford for either a web address or contact details,

Lots of people get married in Church without being christened - Church of England.

The only birth I can see for those parents was later than 1984 so she could not have been christened then and also another sibling born in the same area two years later.

Why was she christened in Devon if they did'nt live anywhere near there?

Unless it was family connections perhaps?

I suppose people who have not been baptised have this done before marrying. But if you already are that seems to be different.
I am guessing there is a family problem here. Surely the minister would be sympathetic to this?

A surely somewhat questionable situation.

1) Firstly if her parents do not know where she was christened how is it likely that unattached others will know.

2) As far as I am aware providing details of ones baptism/christening is not a normal pre requisite to the reading of banns. If it were what would be the situation of those who have not been christened?

teresa Report 8 Mar 2012 18:57

Churches do want your christening details she is so worried the wedding won't go ahead.

brummiejan

brummiejan Report 8 Mar 2012 18:53

There is no way for anyone to find this out online as far as I know. I had no idea this was necessary to have banns read. It seems a bit strange, it's like saying someone who doesn't know their baptism details cannot be married in church, surely not?

Hi all sorry this is for my brother in law his neice is getting married in may but needs her christening details so they can read the banns. Her patents have given her wrong info so has asked me to have a go. Seems she eas christened in bideford in September 1984.

I can see her birth, as Patchem no doubt can, and her parents' marriage, but not in Devon - possibly christening was Bideford though seems a little strange!
As said above, you need to say what your connection is if we are to help.
Otherwise, have you looked on Facebook or Friends Reunited?

Could you say what your connection to her is, and what information you are trying to find out (some of the information supplied would seem to be incorrect)?
Thank-you
