My grandmother was Emily Hankey - born 1905 in St Helens - I have found her birth record and her mother Annie Hankey 1879 Prescot - also other family members on the census but i cannot find out any details of my grandmothers father - i requested a birth certificate - but there are no details on that of the father - do i give up? or are there any other routes i can look down? Any suggestions greatly received. Many thanks :-S

	As the father is not named, you can only research the maternal line

Member Since: February 2005 Posts: 13 Send Message	ok thanks guys - Emily did marry - my grandfather - who was Charlie Hutchinson born Oldham Lancs 1911 but i only have his copy birth certificate and his fathers details as yet - have not requested the marriage certificate. Guess I will never know who Emilys dad was. :(

	Even if she does name a father on the marriage cert, it could well be fictitious I'm affraid jax

Member Since: February 2005 Posts: 13 Send Message	hi guys - yes that is them - i have details of my grandfathers family - it is Emily Hankeys father that i am trying to find, just ordered her marriage cert - to see if there is anything on that - not holding my breath tho - as her mother was still single and at home on the 1911 census.
