Hi All, I was fostered aged 4 years old with a younger brother aged 2, his since passed away, I have found links to my birth mother who also sadly passed away in 1982, and this last week I have located her grave, I am aware of brothers and sisters from the same mother and am in contact. I am now looking for my father his name is FRANCIS ALFRED MOCROFT he would have been born in Dudley I think in 1950 and would have possibly moved to Kent somewhere around 1970 1971 as that's where I was born, my brother was born in 1973 and he was born in Wolverhampton but I think my father would have moved back to the midlands sometime before that I have no details of him really and no visual memory, I don't have contact with my foster parents I left there aged 17 years i am aware of a possible address in 2008 in the Dudley area for him but cannot find anything after that, there does not seem to be any evidence of death any advice or information would be greatly appreciated xx |

Hi All thanks for your replys, and information its much appreciated, I am aware of a possible marriage to a Joan Halford, but she has since passed away from the information I can see, I am aware that there is an Alison mocroft on here and we have been in contact but didn't really know how or where to start to find any definitive answer as to whether we had the same father other than the names matched, I haven't heard from her since, there are other brothers and sisters and younger brothers and sisters who share the same mother I am in contact with those but none who share the same father apart from my brother who has since passed away I was given the same address as a couple of you have also given me in Dudley which I have been to but was apprehensive about knocking the door you just don't know these days do you and I didn't know what to expect really so I came home I have thought about sending a Christmas card to the occupiers and popping a letter in to see what happens I suppose if nothing were to happen I haven't lost anything but it of course would still leave me wondering. I just wish I had more information to link things together but the only think i know about him is his name because its on my birth certificate I am not and have never been on touch with any relatives just taken into care and all links broken its taken me until now to find my mothers grave, but i just feel like if my father is still around I would at least like to speak to him and maybe he would like to meet his grandchildren too Thanks again everyone I will look into some of the ideas you have given and let you know how I get on xxx |

It might be best to wait until after Christmas, then possibly write a letter stating that you are your mother's daughter and believed that he was once married/in a relationship with her, and ask if he has any memories to share. |
