My recent research confirms that my grandfather is the wille Craven living with the Jarmans in 1871. We found an old envelope with the Jarman's adddress in a pack of papers. Still trying to find his parents!!! |

I have found a newspaper cutting in an old book of my grandmothers (William Craven's wife) which tells all about the death of George Hargreaves of SHipley, Yorks on 1 May 1895. George was the son of James Hargreaves a prominant figure in Idle. Perhaps my grandfather was somehow related - perhaps a daughter in the family married a Craven and called the children Hargreaves-Craven. Perhaps mygrandfather was illigitimate/adopted. I thought my grandfather met my grandmother when she was on holiday in Torquay and perhaps he was never born there. I have scanned the newspaper cutting but to not know how to attach it to a thread. It is very interesting to read. Help please |

Even though his birth doesn't appear to have been registered (no penalties until 1875 for not registering) the odds are that he was baptised. |

Thank you for information. I too had found the census which included my mother Elsie Craven. I also have a copy of the marriage certificate of William Craven to Emily Foster. It seems that William will be a very difficult person to find any true facts about his time before he married Emily. There was a rumour in the family that the Craven's did have something to do with the Midlands.I have only started my research a couple of moths ago so I am learning all the time. Thanks everyone for your help. |
