My uncle married an Itailian lady in Italy in the last war I would like to know how I would find out her maiden name, but dont know where to start. He is deceased so cant ask. She would be in late 80s if still alive. Any help on where to start would be a great.

Was your Uncle a British subject ?
in the UK Armed Forces in WW2 ?

If so, he may show in Overseas marriages

Article 6 and 18 1907-1955

Consular Marriages 1849-1965

Army Marriages 1881-1955

The surname of the marriage partner is shown on these indexes <<<<

:-)

If you post his full name ( if a British subject ) we can have a look.

If he was in Italy, in the UK armed forces,
he would have had to have permission to marry, so it would be in his service file, which his next of kin can apply for a copy.

EDIT
Found the surname & where/when married
