Now established RPC died in the Ontario area some years ago His brother J H Cotterill believed to have gone to Vancouver area sometime after 1965 with new wife Maria. We have reason to think that they may have two sons who live in or near Vancouver..

there is really too much personal information here in post at 18 Aug 2011 14:55 and I would suggest you edit and remove the information about the person with initials RPC ... birthdate, marriage, possible location
http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards.page/board/living_relatives/thread/1279532
by the way exactly the same information and more has been provided elsewhere

Andy,
It might be helpful if you edit the title of your thread to include the word "Canada". That way it might catch they eye of someone who has access to Canadian records.

many thanks for the clue that Peter is actually Ronald PeterThis has enabled us to trace his birth[1930] & his marriage to Brenda M Forde in 1932. Have now carried out revised search in Canada for Ronald Peter Cotterill & 2 sites[white pages & canada 411] both come up with an Rothesay/Fairvale location in New Brunswick & a tel no. Still finding nothing for Jackie`s Dad John Howard. Are you able to advise on Any of Brenda`s relations living in Uk? Cheers Andy

Hi Thanks for this. We think this could well be Jackie`s dad as we have now found out that he had to come back to the UK for the divorce & the date seems about right. The Mrs Cotterill could be the lady he remarried. Lets hope this is the start of a successful search thankyou Andy

This is the only record I can find of that name going to Canada, but the date doesn't seem to add up with the information you give - unless he came back from Canada and remarried and then went out there again:-
Name: Mr J H COTTERILL Date of departure: 22 May 1958 Port of departure: Greenock Passenger destination port: Montreal, Canada Passenger destination: Montreal, Canada
Date of Birth: Age: Marital status: Sex: Not specified Occupation: Passenger recorded on: Page 11 of 11
The following people with the same last name travelled on this voyage: -
Mrs COTTERILL Page 11 of 11
Ship: Official Number: Master's name: Steamship Line: Where bound: Square feet: Registered tonnage: Passengers on voyage: SYLVANIA F ? R.M.S Sylvania Montreal, Canada Kath. x

I am trying to help my wife(Jackie) trace her father who is John Howard Cotterill. . He was born on 24/02/1927[Nottingham].We believe he was the son of Eric H Cotterill. Jackie`s mother Sheila[ nee Clifton] married John in April 1947.John went to Canada we believe in th early 1950s.She went out to Canada sometime later with their daughter Christine and they all lived together in an appartment in the French quarter of Montreal with Christine attending the Nesbitt School in Rosemount. But they separated & Sheila & Christine returned to England in early 1956 [Sheila as it turned out was pregnant with Jackie] & Jackie was born in October 1956. She has never had any contact or information about her father other than he may have worked for OTIS Elevators in Montreal & that he had a younger brother named Peter[married to Brenda] who also went to Canada and lived in the English speaking district of Montreal. It is understood that John`s uncle and grandmother (Annie ?believed married toHowell or Haworth Cotterill) )may also have been in Canada for some years living inthe Montreal area. There is also reason to believe Jackie's father remarried in Canada, date unknown, but probably late 1950's , early 60's. I did undertake some research about 5 years ago but got nowhere. Any thing you can give us to help Jackie would be wonderful. [we now know that jackie`s dads middle name was Howeth & that the divorce was in 1962 so he remarried sometime after 1962. however still unable to find any trace in Canada]
