There is no such thing as a 'blank' for mother's name on records .............please read the info I gave you

No point in giving us links to records on Genes as most of the people who help do not use them

as flick has said mothers names were not on the index before 1911

Please say where you are looking - don't just post an unexplained question..............

Do you mean that the maiden name isn't on the index?

That info was not added to the index until after 1911.........

Unless a child was a foundling, the mother's name will always be on the birth cert - the same cannot be said for the father
