i am trying to trace my father terence garnett but his yr of birth dosent match up on records...is this because he was adopted?

Have you got anything else about him, such as father's name? If all affected persons are deceased or OK with his details going on here, and you feel happy about it, put what you have on here. Otherwise PM me with what you have.

Was/is the name you give his birth name.........or his post-adoption name?

There is a member on this site, Chris, who has the name Terence Garnett b l944 in his tree. If you go to search trees, and enter these details you could send him an email and see if it is the same person.

If your father is living he can access his adoption file I believe, this would give him his birth name

unfortunately as I have read it his children are not able to access that information if he is deceased

Once he had his birth name he would be able to get his birth certificate which would state his mother's or parents' names.

Does he know where he was born ? His birth would quite possibly have been registered in the jan quarter of 1946. Was he adopted as an infant ?

when you say you are trying to trace him do you mean you want to find him now because you are not in touch with him ?

if that is the case you should not put such detailed personal info here as his exact date of birth.

Some members take a while to reply, but they may have changed their email address without telling GR. Do you have an area where your father last lived? You could try the electoral rolls on 192.com

thanks for your help ,i have just applied for a copy of there marriage cetificate so that should give me more information :-D
