My grandfather John Hill, a widowed bricklayer, remarried a Martha Dickson Walker (a widow with three sons named William, James and Samuel) on 3rd May 1922 at Oswald Street, Glasgow. (so-called irregular marriage by Sherriffs Warrant). They may have had a daughter of their own called Martha Hill. I am looking for descendants of this couple and possibly this daughter. They lived at the time in the Camlachie/Dennistoun area. Martha Dickson Walker Hill died in January 1949. John Hill died in 1962 in New Kilpatrick (possibly in hospital as his address was elsewhere in Glasgow - possibly 140 Corsock Street where he lived when his wife died in 1949. I have only just found my grandfather after looking for him for forty years (he was last heard of in our family in 1918). I would dearly love to make contact with his other descendants as we are fairly thin on the ground. |
