Glad Thomas is safely home. He sounds as though he is doing really well. Has he had his medication yet or are you still trying to get it down him?

Thomas is home :-D..Fast asleep in the cage at the moment asfter a greal deal of scrabbling to get out.The water bowl is upturned :-S,so he has made a right old mess already. I will sort that out when he wakes and I can let him out to stretch his legs.
He is weight bearing quite well but falls over when he turns around.
Medication due at 8pm .I wonder how that will go.Apparently he took his tablets at the vets just as though they were a treat !!.But I doubt he will be so good for me.
He is doing really well considering what a big op it was and we are just 48hrs post op.

I love the way the starlings seem to queue up for the bird bath or the coconut. I am sure they must have a hierarchy system

Will be thinking of you Jane when you pick Thomas up this afternoon. It is sure
to be a stressful few weeks ahead, but he has his very own Doctor and Nurse on
hand for lots of gentle TLC. Thomas chose you well. Take care of yourself too.

No strange little bird. No idea where it is came from or where it has gone back to?

Keeping both bird baths filled and we are amused to see the birds cooling off in
the water. Yesterday a row of starlings stood patiently on the wall. That's a first!

That's good news Jane. I hope you have had plenty of rest while he has been at the vets cos I bet when he is home you will be checking him every 5 minutes.

No nurses uniform yet Ann.They are keeping Thomas in for a second night. It is just for pain control as he is still needing the strong stuff. So all being well I pick him up tomorrow at 2 :-D.. Slept like a log last night and hopefully will do too tonight.

AnninGlos Report 8 Jun 2016 22:29

Op done and Thomas recovering now in a local vets overnight. He had the head and neck of his femur removed !!!!.Poor little chap has been through the mill .
Hopefully I will bring him home tomorrow sometime .Then the fun begins !!!.
Physio(I have to be told yet what I have to do).Getting tablets into him(now that will not be easy) and look after the external stitches .He may come back with a 'lampshade' :-S
I am thinking about buying a harness with lead so I can take him in the garden to exercise his leg ,but knowing he can't disappear :-)..His hip and leg look like a Turkey Leg ready for the oven !! :-( with a row of stitches.
I can't begin to tell you how tired I am .I feel like I have been on treadmill since Monday. So it is bed for me now :-D

I am sure Thomas will be well looked after and hopefully improve a little each day.
Remember to take care of yourself too Jane, it has been a stressful few days.

Jane Report 8 Jun 2016 12:13

Thanks so much everyone.Yes I am hoping that the op is done now and he will be in recovery.I will pick him up later this afternoon all being well and take him to another Vets here where they will keep him over night and manage pain control ..Then that will be over to us .Not an easy job to give a cat bitter tasting medication and probably even more difficult getting tablets down :-S..Done that before and it is no mean feat .
I'll have some physio too to do !!.I can see the next few weeks being rather stressful :-)
Hey Ho ! :-D

Yes, all crossed here too. So upsetting when our pets are ill or hurt.

SuffolkVera Report 8 Jun 2016 08:30

By now Jane and Thomas will be at the animal centre in Northampton and I am thinking of them. I hope the operation goes well. I am sure Thomas will make a good recovery. He seems a tough little fella. I've got fingers, toes and everything else crossed <3

kandj Report 7 Jun 2016 21:08

AnninGlos Report 7 Jun 2016 20:24

Good luck with Thomas tomorrow, hope it all goes well. Gosh £800, good job you have insurance Jane.

Jane

Jane Report 7 Jun 2016 18:29

Hi all just a quick update
Thomas is ok ,it was back for more injections this morning and an enema :-S.Luckily he managed to hang on until we got in and got straight in the litter tray :-D.What a good boy :-D.
So insurance.Yes thank goodness we have it.So far at the vets here we are up to £430 and then the op tomorrow will be around the £800 mark !! Then no doubt check ups etc.
He has suddenly got a tremendous appetite .Which is great as I am sure he had nothing for several days ,and now from midnight it is nil by mouth .Just water.
Op tomorrow :-(.Very early start as we have to be at the Animal Medical Centre in Northampton for 8.10am.We will have to leave here by about .6.45 .
It is all a bit stressful but as long as he is fine in the end that is the main thing. Our vet seems to really believe that it was a car that caused the injuries.

It is so humid an oppressive here.Very uncomfortable. My son thought he saw lightening on the way home from work so we may well be in for the forecast Thunder and Lightening. Got the candles and lamps handy in case of a power cut
:-D
