I visited the nesting swans yesterday and saw that Mother Swan was still sitting and her mate was sitting quite close to her. I watched for a while, - they don't seem to be at all bothered by people walking the footpath adjacent to the nest, but the male was on full alert when any dogs were walked along past them. The dogs paid no attention to the swans, so there was no bother. |

Yes I remember Bob, what a pity they chose a different home. Still you will still be able to watch them. The only time great Tits have used one of our boxes was when we were away. :-D |

some of you might recall that I had a thread going regarding a family of blue tits in one of my nesting boxes that had a web cam inside...10 eggs, 10 fledglings....well, i see this week end that the Tits are back but sadly not in the one with the camera... |

I hope the cygnets hatch and survive OK. At least the fence will give them a bit of protection. |

Lol Vera I am sure that pleased him. Isn’t it always a culture shock to suddenly find yourself with slow WiFi? We had the same problem in Saundersfoot. Shame there is nowhere to eat in walking distance but it sounds as though you have had a good time. Safe journey tomorrow. :-) |

that was lucky Vera, what a pity you didn't have your camera in your hand. Maybe you will see him again. Where in dorset are you? We love Dorset and have been every year for about 6 years but so far have no plans for this year. Daughter's wedding is taking an extra week of travel for us. Have a lovely time. |

We’re in Dorset at the moment and have just seen what I think was a Merlin. Looked out of our bedroom window and sitting on the fence below with its back to us was a small bird of prey. By the time OH got his camera it had flown away but I was able to see the colours clearly. |

It is fine here Kandj, birds and gardens go together. it is just good to hear from you and to know that you are tackling the nettles etc. Listening to the birds in the evening, especially the blackbird who seems to sing forever is wonderfully soothing and I hope it is helping you a little. It is 35 degrees in our garden according to the garden thermomemeter, it is sheltered so no doubt a bit higher than outside it. We were down Gloucester docks today and spent a lovely 15 minutes sitting by the water, Until a young family arived and proceeded to feed the seagulls. No wonder we can't get rid of them. Anyway we moved off. Do keep in touch we all think of you all the time. |
