I have had another google for 'Barking Deer'.It is a Muntjac Deer I can hear.
Have a google for it and you will know exactly the sound I hear :-D.It sounds a bit like a Dog Bark ..hence the the name I suppose.
I would never have imagined a Deer would make that kind of sound.Isn't the Internet brilliant for finding out things :-D

Oh dear, what a shame they look beautiful however I wouldn't want to meet up
with one. I do hope that the remaining wolf will be safe outside of his enclosure and can be returned safely without shooting the animal. A great loss to the zoo.

According to our local news 5 wolves escaped, 1 wolf returned to the enclosure 2 were stunned and 2 were shot.

That is tragic :-(.I wonder how the fence became damaged to enable the Wolves to escape.I too wonder why they weren't stunned .There must be a good reason for killing them.I hope the one on the loose can be caught safely and returned to the Zoo.
I expect people living nearby will be keeping their pets in tonight if the lone wolf is still out there. He will wanting his supper :-S

Ann I do think the noise I heard is a Deer rather than a fox.I look ed up 'Barking Deer'
and it does sound about the same, and I know there are Deer sometimes in the back field and little Spinney.
The land is due to be built on at some point plus 2 more fields are to be used for housing.Where will all the wildlife go???I just think it is so sad :-(

oh that is sad, beautiful creatures. I am puzzled as to why they were shot and not stunned if they are not considered a risk to the public? It doesn't say.

Lots of seagulls swooping around today, keeping others away.

AnninGlos Report 26 Nov 2013 12:48

Sounds as if it could be a fox Jane.

Not a lot of birds here still but we did have a Chaffinch in the garden this morning, just one. And for the second day running we had a starling sitting on our TV aerial singing its heart out. Don't often hear starlings sing like that, in fact I looked up because I thought it was a blackbird or a Robin. :-)

That sort of noise would freak me out Jane. I really am a wuss!

Jane

Jane Report 25 Nov 2013 18:07

I have heard the 'animal ' noise again .It seems to be about the same time each evening. It must be a Deer.I don't think now it is something in distress (thank goodness).

Jane

Jane Report 23 Nov 2013 18:17

Kandj.I worried myself sick when we had trees and the big Yew hedge done.Wondering what would happen to the birds. But the tree surgeon said they would be fine as there would be no nesting babies and the birds would just find somewhere else to make home.

I have just been outside the back door and can hear a horrible noise. It is an animal.
I am hoping it just might be a Deer calling and nothing in trouble. It sounds a bit like a dog barking with a sore throat. But is definitely not a dog.I hate hearing noises like this and not knowing exactly what it is..Maybe a Fox or even a Badger.I will worry now :-S

Jane the Goldfinch is really pretty, it must like your berry sticks.

I watched 3 mega big and bushy conifers being cut down in the neighbourhood today. It looks very spacious now but what will happen to the garden birds who will have sheltered and nested in there for years now that Winter is almost upon us??? Perhaps they will make their way to our garden and use our lop-sided tree..... i do hope so.

Jane

Jane Report 22 Nov 2013 19:19

Once seen, never forgotten. We don't get the goldfinch very often here in Yorkshire..... well not in our garden anyway, but it's a real beauty to see.

Jane I have bought uncle a bag of seed mix to go with his feeder and I'm giving him a scoop that you sometimes get in a box of soap powder, hopefully he wont make to much mess using that :-)

Our weather was pretty grim here this morning so all I put out for the birds was some over ripe bananas.........they love them :-D

Jane

Jane Report 20 Nov 2013 21:41

I'm not sure but I think we may have a Goldfinch too.I need to look it up in my book to check it out.

Lesley take lots of food for the feeder !!!!!!!.I can hardly keep up with mine lol.It needs filling yet again but as it's tipping it down here it will have to wait until I get up tomorrow. The birds will be having a late breakfast :-D
