I've been in Wales for a few days so filled the bird feeders up before I went. I was surprised when I got back to find they were still almost full so there can't have been many birds around.

The feeders have gone down a bit today but it only seems to be starlings on them.
Where are the birds this year? :-(

Put up a sign Jane, birds only, no squirrels :-D

We actually had some Great and Blue tits around yesterday, did see a Greenfinch on the seed this morning but then we went out so don't know what has been around.

Thinking of you Kandj <3 <3 <3

Is it Pheasant Shooting time? I heard lots of gunshots this morning.Plus there seem to be a lot of Pheasant noises around us.Maybe they have left the fields and come here to go into hiding :-D
I have filled the Window feeder 3 times today :-S :-S...I have a feeling that the Squirrel might be about :-|

AnninGlos Report 11 Nov 2014 13:10

At least you have some activity MaryAnna, despite the fact that most of the seed and bits of fat I put out have disappeared, I have not seen a single bird here today. Maybe our birds are wimps and don't like the rain :-D

There was a right rumpus just now, the Jackdaws are getting cocky and have obviously decided that as there are now so many of them next doors roof is not big enough.

For some reason, known only to themselves, they seem to have decided that the Magpies favourite roof perch, across the road would make a good annex.

They flew over one by one until there was six or seven of them, only about four Magpies at that time. The Magpies were NOT going to have that and needless to say feathers were flying.

At the moment nobody is on the roof opposite, the Magpies are shouting from the Thugs tree which has sent the Sparrows into a tizz and the Jackdaws are back on next doors chimney laughing at them all.

All that in the pouring rain.

M. :-)

Ann I haven't seen any here for about a week now. There are so many Crows though :-S :-S.Well I think Crows..
The Robins are very vocal especially early evenings. Not just from our garden but all around the various neighbours too.It is quite a racket .

We saw a lot of red kites on the way back from M Keynes, nothing unusual in that ecept we normally see them around Oxford towards Bicester and these were towards Gloucestershire near Burford much further this way.

Only a couple of collared doves and several starlings today. The starlings have finished yesterday's fat cakes already - I don't think the bluetits got a look in. OH says the birds eat better than he does so I think I'll do him fat cake and chips for his tea :-D

I have given up on my cake making days Vera :-D.None ever turned out well :-S
I hope your birds are very grateful for all the homemade food they are getting :-D
I was going to put out some crumbs from the bottom of the tin that OH made the Christmas cake in on Friday. But thought it might be a bit too alcoholic lol.The birds scrap enough now ,so heaven knows what they would be like with a bit of booze in them :-S

At 5'8" I should find it easy. So why am I always stuck behind the 6'5" man with shoulders the width of a bus?

I'm just sitting by the window and I can see that all the shop bought fat balls and my home made fat cake have gone again and the starlings are buzzing around looking for more. I'm tempted to leave them for a day or so but there are a couple of bluetits flying around as well and I want to encourage them, so I'd better refill everything.

I had a disaster with a cake this morning so I now have a large bag of crumbs and sultanas in the freezer for the next fat cakes I make. At least something will benefit from my cooking failures :-D

I had seen the news about kandj and her OH on the "Christian" thread. If you happen to look in kandj, I'm thinking of you and sending all my good wishes to you and your OH. <3

Ann I am a 5ft 2 too and also seem to get stuck behind the tallest people. It's not much fun is it :-S.Even in the cinema or theatre you can bet your bottom dollar that the tallest person in the row in front will be sat in front of me :-S

Maryanna what a pity about the rain last night. But it did sound a fantastic evening. :-D

Poor Kandj and her OH.It is such a shame to have a set back now after such good progress. :-(

Crikey Graham 16 people not arriving for work !!.That is quite a number :-0 :-0

Graham Report 2 Nov 2014 13:02

The people of Bridgwater get really irritated when they see the name of their town spelled with an e in the middle. ;-) The council made a gaff recently when new signs went up on the outskirts of the town with the dreaded misspelling. There was uproar about that. :-)

The procession seemed to start a bit late. But good things come to those that wait. ;-)

I'm off to work now. I just got a message to say 16 people never turned up this morning. Perhaps they never made it back. :-) I stayed in Bridgwater myself last night. I must be lucky to have friends in such high places. :-D

Oh, I am sorry to hear that Kandj's OH is unwell. I do hope he will be better soon. Thinking of you Kandj.

Maryanna. I thought of you but thought you had been lucky as it didn't rain here until very late. What a shame, one year it will stay dry. And presumably you couldn't use umbrellas for fear of pocking peoples' eyes out.
Well, I thought it was just me (five foot two and a bit) that attracted all the tall people. I do wish they would look behind them and invite shorties to stand in front of them. Glad you enjoyed it, despite the weather anyway. :-) :-)

Thank you Jane for news of Kandj.
