Tell me about it. I tend to forget she is 53 sometimes and think of her still in her 20s until I remember the Grandsons, well three of them are the ones in their 20s.

I like this I saw the other day... If you are over 60 and wake up without any aches and pains you are probably dead! :-D :-D

Jane Report 24 Mar 2015 20:20

She is still younger than me Ann so to me she is a young lady LOL.....7 years younger :-D..I still think I am young :-S.My joints don't feel quite the same though :-S

Young lady. Well not so young really unless compared to me. She is 53!

Maryanna ,it would be great if one of the Red Kites is the 'tagged ' one. :-D..I wonder how long their lifespan is?

Ann your Daughter sounds like she is doing so well.It must be hard for her though. It's nice that she is meeting new friends too.She does sound a very positive young lady :-D

There is a Blackbird here that sits in the top of a tree just outside the lounge at the same time each evening. He sings his head off :-D.I am sure that when he sings I can hear another one somewhere replying :-D :-D

Nice to see the Red Kites then Maryanna, maybe there are a pair and you are seeing one at a time. :-D

Maryanna Report 24 Mar 2015 13:25

Half an hour ago, my husband called me out to the front garden. There, circling over the house was a Red Kite.

I got a photo of it and enlarged it just to make sure.

Now, this is really odd as we had never seen any round here until last Friday and now we have seen two.

I suppose it could be the same one, but the one we spotted on Friday was about seven miles away.

I looked on the internet, it seems that the odd one has been spotted locally, within a ten mile radius and a chick was tagged with a radio transmitter in 2009 by Birdworld, which is not very far away, so it could be that one.

Nothing much else happening except the. Magpies are up to their old tricks, attacking the Pigeons who are now nesting in the Holly tree, just over the fence in next doors garden. At least they are no longer attacking them in the apple tree right outside our bedroom window.

Yes bright and sunny although cold here too this morning. Mr and Mrs blackbird are much in evidence feeding in the garden here too Kandj so I think they must be nesting somewhere near.

Daughter is ok, she is doing what she planned to do she is accepting every invitation she gets. She has joined the local branch of under 60s widows and widowers group, has met two people for coffee from there and went to a bigger meet up in a pub on Sunday. Like me she finds it hard meeting new people but she was met outside and taken in which was nice. She also, at the weekend drove to Preston to meet up with one of the home workers who used to work for her and her new baby, and another friend from where she used to work visited for lunch one day. She is still working from home a couple of hours a day and sometimes has to go to meetings in London or Edinburgh. Her son and DiL are very good and call round a lot, Wednesday she is going out with DiL and last week they went to the cinema. She is also coming to Spain with us for two weeks. It is all about making new memories I think. She is obviously lonely without Jon but, as she says, has no choice, just has to get on with it. Strange I still can't get my head round the fact we won't see him again.

A bright sunny start to the day here in Yorkshire although rain is forecast for later.

Yesterday we had Mr and Mrs Blackbird using the window feeder most of the day and there was the biggest pigeon ever (like a chicken really) eating all the food on the ground feeder. Hubby and I watched amazed that this fat bird could actually fly away!

How is your daughter managing to fill her days now Ann? I do hope that she has friends who are supporting her after your son in laws sad death.

Ann that is what I am worried about..Mr Fox :-S :-S.They might have been on nests with eggs :-( It would be a terrible shame if that is what has happened.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 23 Mar 2015 17:38

Aaw I hope the fox hasn't had the moorhens. maybe something frightened them off. Hope they return to you.

As for the Moorhens.I would love more Graham lol BUT what if my 3 missing ones turn up !!.I am worried something might have had them :-(.It's been a while now since they have been here..Just have the one still.I do miss them :-(

Will have a look at your flowers Ann.The only flowers I can see in our garden are the Daffodils and some Crocus.I can't wait for everything to bloom.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 23 Mar 2015 12:42

Some photos on the photo blog of flowers in our garden and also some from Cornwall.

Strange the house martins are early Graham when everything else is tending to be a week or two late.

Graham

Graham Report 23 Mar 2015 11:22

The housemartins have arrived early this year. They're building a nest on the front of our house and making a lot of noise while they're at it.

I did ask you if you wanted any more moorhens Jane; but you've missed your chance now. :-D :-D

Jane

Jane Report 22 Mar 2015 17:12

What beautiful day it has been.We had tickets for the cinema for this afternoon ,but it seemed crazy to be sat in the dark watching a film so we decided to make the most of the good weather :-D

Not a very clear sighting of the eclipse here in Yorkshire yesterday, but we did find it all fascinating watching this on TV.

Nothing at all unusual either in the garden or window feeder..... sounds like Ann had my share down in Cornwall. Good to know that you are back from your travels safely.

Exciting planning then Maryanna.

Birds visiting our small patio to feed during the week.
Blue tits, Great tits, coal tits, Nuthatch, robins, blackbirds, male and female, Jackdaw, Wood pigeon. Chaffinches, Pied Wagtail, Dunnocks, a pair of Mallard ducks, (And 2 squirrels).
A song thrush was out in front of the apartment turning over leaves for a long time and a family of rabbits were playing in front of the apartment too. All the birds and animals were very tame and the ducks put their beaks right against the window asking for feed.

I guess Newbury and Basingstoke aren't too far away from each other, are they Ann.
They do seem to be spreading more.

We have to go past Basingstoke to get from one place to the other so will keep our eyes peeled in future.

The combined Ruby and big birthday party are at the beginning of May Jane.

No hold ups got back about 1.30. Left at 9am but sropped at Cullompton services for 45 minutes and then at Gloucester services for their farm shop for about half an hour. It was sunny with some cloud all the way from Cornwall to here.

Maryanna we have seen Red Kites near Newbury.

Jane

Jane Report 21 Mar 2015 13:43

Remind me again Maryanna when your party is.( I have forgotten :-S)
Paper Heather and plastic horse shoes sound a lot simpler LOL

It is very strange here with the Red Kites and Buzzards. We get the Kites and my friend who just lives down the lane across the road just get Buzzards. We are only a Quarter of a mile away from each other.

Not a nice day today .It is just all grey and windy.I hope you have a clear run home today Ann with no hold ups.
