Ann, glad to see you back home safely and know that your daughter reached her home in safety too. You are sure to have benefited from your relaxing time spent together.

Jane, we also have some new Robins in our garden, but seen in the back garden only and they haven't found their way around the front to the lounge window feeder just yet

A rather cool windy day here in Yorkshire so far. Pleasant enough, with blue sky and white fluffy clouds but a few black rain clouds hovering in the background and so it could all change here before too long. Mind you, the gardens are greatly in need of the rain and it will be one less job for me to do later on today.

We had a very young blackbird in the garden this afternoon. It looked quite surprised to see us as it flopped onto a shrub.

Will have a look at the blog Ann :-D
I just found an egg on the patio :-( I think it must be a Wood pidgeon's egg .All cleaned out..I think the Magpies work :-S :-S
There seem to be a lot of young looking Robins about at the moment .There were 3 just now all waiting to get a feed from the window feeder.
No sign again of the Moorhen.

Safely home had a good flight, on time no problems. Home at 2.30pm. And daughter got home at 6.45pm.

Lovely holiday and the second week we had super weather.

Jane Report 21 Apr 2015 20:14

Kandj we had fog again too this morning but not as thick as yesterday .Wall to wall sunshine all day :-D :-D It has been just like a summers day :-D
All the Blackbirds are out now hopping around the lawn looking for worms or bugs.I say hopping..they actually run so fast lol

I hope Ann is home now safe and sound. At least she would have had a nice smooth flight :-D

Jane, more fog here again first thing but we have had lovely sunshine all day today.

Oh dear Vera that's a shame about your frog. Mind you I am a real wuss with things that jump out at me in the garden. We have no water feature, so no frogs around here

I hope that Ann and family enjoyed their holiday and have a safe journey home today.

Wasn't it thick mist/fog this morning Kandj and quite a frost. It looked so pretty as the mist gradually cleared. Nice to know your garden is busy with birds now :-D

Oh Vera that is sad about dear old Froggy :-(.I wonder why it died. They do seem to 'dry out very quickly, and like you said look cooked :-S.Maybe it was old age.

We have the Great Spotted Woodpecker visiting the Window Feeder :-D :-D

Oh that is a shame Vera, maybe another one will be along to take its place.
Kandj last day today :-( still sunny but with a lot more clouds scudding across the sky.

Lovely day here. A bit breezy but sunny and not too cold.

I was pleased last week when OH said he had seen our frog on the lawn - first time we had seen him since late autumn. Sadly I have just found him dead. He looked as though he had cooked but he was lying right next to the water tray I had put out for him and I had put little pebble rocks for him to climb in and out.

Feeling quite grumpy now as I had got very fond of Froggy :-(

I also saw the thick fog first thing Jane but now have lovely blue sky and white fluffy clouds here in Yorkshire this morning. Plenty of activity with birds chasing one another around and nest building activity still going on..... the joys of Spring ha ha.

I hope that the sun is still shining for you and your family Ann... when are you back?

Ann it sounds so lovely to be sitting having lunch looking out to sea. There is nothing nicer.Hopefully the weather will remain good now for the rest of your holiday.

I was watching a SparrowHawk yesterday. It was hovering just across the road at the edge of the horses field. It was fascinating to see how it managed to just stay hovering in the one position for so long and then it took a dive.So I am guessing if found its prey :-(.I couldn't see then as it was on the ground the other side of the hedge.

Kanji our Wood Pidgeons are so big. They are quite funny to watch collecting all the sticks and twigs and then trying to get into where the nest is.I often wonder how a branch doesn't break when you see one sitting on it especially the really thin branches.

Nice sunny day here today but the wind is a bit on the strong side.

Had 1 visit yesterday from the 1 Moorhen :-D.At least I know that one is still around :-D

Well after the rain we have had two glorious hot sunny days. We walked over four miles this morning and early afternoon, stopping to have a long tapas lunch at a restaurant that had a verandah with tables jutting out over the sea, so the four miles were not completed in one go. And we actually saw a very busy little Egret which caught a fish :-D

Dare I mention that we have a beautiful sunny day with a blue sky and white fluffy clouds here in Yorkshire Ann. No doubt you all will be enjoying the rest and change of scenery which will be a bonus for you all.

We have been kept amused by the antics of two very big/heavy pigeons who are obviously nest building in a huge conifer in neighbours garden. They are both very busy with twigs and land on the conifer and the branch is then like a trampoline ha ha.

Weather is mixed Kandj, it rained yesterday However the sun is shining today. Lynda is very relaxed and has a good tan so I think it is doing her good. Luckiky we have always got on well and have shared a lot of holidays in the past.

Hardly any birds in this area which does strike us strange, just the occasional sparrows around the outside bar restaurants, not even any sea birds.

kandj Report 16 Apr 2015 08:30

The SparrowHawk looks amazing close up but very evil with beady eyes and claw tallons
How is the holiday going Ann? Hope your daughter is managing to relax with you both.

I am very organized this morning and have filled the window and ground feeders and the two bird baths........ we are just waiting to see who feels, like visiting us today. It will probably be the same old blackbirds, hedge sparrows and of course the starlings.
It is nice to hear about everyone elses wild life though.... please share them with us.

Kandj, yes one year a sparrowhawk so spooked the little birds we didn't see them for two months.

kandj

kandj Report 15 Apr 2015 20:37

We had a SparrowHawk last year. I opened the kitchen windowblinds and it was sitting on the garden wall looking at me........ frightening, even through a glass window. It stayed there for almost 20 mins but I missed it flying off. It cleared all the other birds for quite a few days. Thank goodness it has never returned.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 14 Apr 2015 17:46

Sounds as if that could be a great tit Jane.

Sparrow hawks are quite evil looking and they do swoop in low. Hope it doesn't catch any of your little birds.

Maryanna, how rude of people not to reply. Are these younger or older people?
