Maryanna ,you will be all partied out soon. You have had, and been to so many !!!!!!!
The last garden party I went to was for Victim Support and held at the Police Headquarters in Northampton. There was a raffle, and Prince William and Harry's uncle was there(Lady Di's brother). He had a winning ticket and won 3 pairs of ladies pants :-D :-D :-D.

Perhaps he was suggesting you wear a butterfly brooch Vera !!

That first September weekend has turned out to be a busy one for us, we have an 80 th birthday party, a wedding and a housewarming to go to.

The last weekend in September is the same with another birthday, wedding and a Christening. Oh and maybe a baby if she arrives a few days early !!!!

Just off to a Garden Party Darlings, lots of Champagne to be drunk, apparently ..,,,,,,,, hic.

The builders were planning to start again at 7.30 this morning, I heard them all planning it before they left last night. " unfortunately " the man with the digger couldn't make it so they sat around shouting and drinking tea until 8am and then got on with making a start in the brickwork. All credit to them, the concrete came Thursday afternoon and today they have got two rows of breeze blocks down already.

I often buy on line too but hadn't seen anything I really wanted so thought I'd hit the shops. Trouble is I really want a dress but my top half is a size smaller than the bottom half so if a dress fits one bit of me it doesn't fit the other bit. Also everything is either knee or floor length. Why is no-one making in between any more?

So it'll be skirt and jacket again. I've got a good black skirt and pale blue jacket that looks pretty good with a pale blue patterned top and matching scarf that I already have. Maybe I'll treat myself to a new bag.

Wedding is 5th September but I wanted to get sorted as we are pretty busy in August.

Vera i have given up going around shops to find something special to wear .We don't have any decent shops near us.I always go on line and find something with fingers crossed .It's just so easy if what you buy doesn't suit of fit to send back.
How lovely to have the Butterfly land on you. That was an honour :-D :-D

Lovely to see one Vera they are apparently becoming a rare sight.

Sorry you had a wasted shopping trip. When is the wedding?

SuffolkVera Report 17 Jul 2015 20:19

Horrid to be woken so early but I think the prohibited times during the week are before 7am or after 8 pm. They are different at weekends.

We were woken one morning at 6.15 by a delivery of topsoil. We knew it was coming that day but hadn't expected it so early. I felt awful about it and I went round to the neighbours and apologised. One had already left for work and no-one else had heard it.

I've had a horrid day. Went by bus to a nearby town, traipsed around for four hours trying to find something to wear to a wedding, didn't get anything except a blister on the ball of my foot and then just missed a bus back so I had another hour to kill

:-(

One nice thing that happened while I was waiting for the bus was that a red admiral butterfly fluttered across and landed on my chest where it sat for quite a little while before flying off again. I'm not sure whether it liked my white shirt or the blue beads I was wearing but I felt very honoured :-D

7.30 making that racket is not on Maryanna :-S :-S :-S...I think 8 am is supposed to be the time when noise like that is allowed to begin. You deserve a bit of a lie in now without that disruption that early in the morning.

Kandj the colouring book I have is also by Johanna Basford.Mine is called the Secret Garden. It is definitely the 'in thing' :-D :-D

Hello all

Ann, I also have receding gums. Dentist was quick to tell me it was because I was getting old.... hmm.... well, I can't argue with that Good job he is a lovely patient dentist or I would have told him off for being so rude ha ha.

Jane, my daughter bought me an adult colouring book at Christmas. I had never seen one before but she assured me that they are quite trendy?!! It is Enchanted Forest by Johanna Basford, and has good quality paper. I also had pretty postcards and notelets too. Colouring in is relaxing. I'm sure you will enjoy using the new pencils and produce beautiful pictures that will surprise your family.

Maryanna, what a shame you were disturbed so early this morning, no doubt you would be looking forward to having a sleep in on the first day of your retirement.
Finishing work and going with your daughter to see the baby scan was very special
With two pregnancies and a little granddaughter already, you are sure to be kept busy now you have finished work. Sounds like lots of fun times in the future for you.

I thought that work like that was supposed to start at 8am., maybe I am wrong. We never let anyone doing noisy work that could be heard by the neighbours start before 8am or even 8.30. It is right by our bedroom window.

I suppose they wanted to get started whilst the weather is reasonable..Big lorries have been delivering bricks and taking away what they have dug up already, there is no room for a skip.

With any luck by the time we get back from Somerset they will be well into the building and the noisy stuff will have stopped.

Well that is a bit thoughtless. If I was having it done I would have shown a bit more consideration for the neighbours and not had them start at that time.

We had an almighty thunder storm last night, lasted a couple of hours or more, torrential rain too.

My grass really needed it.

Sunny today, haven't seen much sunshine for the last few days.

Some men turned up this morning, at 7.30, with pneumatic drills and a digger to take up next doors patio, she is having a small extension built.

Why did they have to start today ???? I was looking forward to a lie in too.

My teeth problems are part genes, my Dad had awful teeth, and part the result of being a war baby, diet not so good for teeth followed by bad school dental care.

Maryanna Report 16 Jul 2015 21:42

Ouch Ann, they always have to get that bit extra, don't they ? They never seem to be happy unless you go out with blood dribbling down your chin !!

The last four times Himself has been, she always has a good poke about and every time he has lost a filling within a couple of weeks. Not too hard as every tooth he has is filled.

My halo is shining here, I only have three fillings. Luckily the kids have taken after me and not one of them has ever had a filling or extraction, apart from eldest son who had his Wisdom teeth out.

kandj, i retired today and then celebrated by going with my daughter for an anti natal appointment and heard my grandson's heartbeat.

Everyone has gone back to their various homes. We will see a lot of eldest son and his wife for the next few weeks as we will spend most of the Summer in Somerset. Apart from when we are in Italy.

Youngest son went on a school trip to Iceland, he loved it.

Sounds like you had a fun day Jane, I have wondered about those colouring books, I can see someone small getting their hands on it though. She loves getting in my make up bag and comes down with about six different shades of lipstick round her face. Nothing else just the lipsticks, finished off with a dash of lip gloss.

Thunder and lightning here at the moment.

Yikes Ann.I hope it isn't too painful a visit tomorrow.I think we all hate going to the Dentist. In fact I don't know anyone who enjoys it lol.Lets face it who would .

We had a really nice day out at Art in Action today. It is quite a long drive ,and like last year the Marquees were sweltering .There are some amazing things to see there but so expensive to buy. Some things a couple of thousand pounds plus :-S
I don't think we will go next year .It was interesting to see some of the exhibitors demonstrating how their work is done.
My daughter bought me one of those Intricate colouring books for my birthday so I bought some new colouring pencils, and a roll to keep them in .The man who was helping me with the pencils said I could hang the roll on my EASEL !!!!!!.Well I nearly creased up.....I said I am not an artist ,I just do colouring in LOL.But he knew exactly what colouring book I have ,so I didn't feel quite so stupid after all :-D

Lol Kandj my mum used to feed the birds and she hated starlings, she would rush out going 'shoo, shoo' and flapping her arms. They always seemed to just come back and finish the food off though. :-D :-D

the thing is though we never get a clean bill of health at the dentist because he always wants to do a deep clean and my gums have receded so far that it is really painful to have done so for me it is always two appointments after the check up and injections doing one side at a time.

Hello All

We had our dental check ups last month for both OK now for the next six months. Not my favourite place to visit I must admit. When treatment is needed it is doubly painful, hits the mouth and the debit card! Good luck for tomorrow's treatment Ann.

It should be much more comfortable for you both today Jane. Have a good day out.
I am just going to google the exhibition now.

Vera, I hope Humphrey the frog has shown up again now the workmen are all done.

Maryanna, have all the family gone away after the weekend get together. Did your husband enjoy the cake? Is it this week that you finish work and look forward to your retirement? Hope all is still well with your daughter's pregnancy after the recent scare.

Our only Granddaughter Katie is returning today from a 5 day school trip in Iceland.
Next year's school trip is skiing in France..... it's all so different to my schooldays.

Lots of starlings eating everything in site and hogging the bird baths today. They are very noisy and aggressive birds. Real bullies in the bird world, nasty things.

Ann I was in Athens(just a few miles out of the city).I was 18 and working looking after 2 young boys.I have to say even though I got myself into some right old situations there it was a great experience .Made me grow up and gave me loads of confidence :-D

I think the bird survived :-D.I got OH to go and have a look ,and it had gone .So i am guessing it recovered and was able to fly off.
We did have a nice day in Cambridge. It was Monday. We basically did a bit of shopping and had lunch at Jamie Oliv***.Ordered a new TV :-D(that will be here next Wednesday). We have been putting up with a flickering screen now for far too long.

Tomorrow we are going to Water Perry(Oxford)for the Art in Action Fair.We went last year and it was so hot(in the 30's).Tomorrow looks about 23 degs so should be much more comfortable :-).So early start for us in the morning and early to bed tonight.

did you have a good day in Cambridge? Was it Monday you were going?
