Jane Report 27 Oct 2015 17:51

Not a Frog in sight here Vera.Have yours vanished? :-(
A lot of the Ladybirds have lots of black on them :-S :-S.I keep having to flick them out (gently of course :-) ).My Son found lots of dead ones in his bedroom yesterday after having his yearly clean!!!!!.
As for having all the birds.I definitely think the numbers are down on the window feeder (no doubt to having Thomas prowling about). My purse is a lot heavier than normal as i am not having to buy quite so much bird food .
Hope this posts as we have just had a power cut :-S

Leave it a while then try again. At what stage did it seem to go wrong? Maybe there is a glitch.

Maryanna Report 27 Oct 2015 16:00

I don't know, Jane; not content with having most of the birds, you now seem to be hosting most of the ladybirds. :-D. You haven't got my frogs as well have you? :-D

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 27 Oct 2015 12:01

None here Jane you must have them all. :-D

Maryanna

Maryanna Report 27 Oct 2015 10:35

I haven't seen many at all this year Jane, except for when we went to Montacute a couple of weeks ago. Everyone was covered with them. Some ordinary ones, and others that were black with a big red spot on each wing.

No not an apple watch, a bit cheaper than that. it is like a Fitbit. It measures the number of steps/miles you walk a day and also your sleep pattern, shows you how many calories you have walked off as well. Does a few more things but I only use those I have said. Google vivofit2. :-)

Jane

Jane Report 25 Oct 2015 15:03

Blackbirds aren't the tidiest birds are they Vera? :-S

Ann I haven't heard of a watch like yours !!!!!.I think I am way behind when it comes to technology like that. :-S.Is it an Apple Watch Ann?

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 25 Oct 2015 14:10

I don't have to set my watch it is a vivofit2 and when I sync it with the Ipad it automatically resets the time.

SuffolkVera Report 25 Oct 2015 13:27

Oops, knew I had forgotten something. Thanks for the reminder Jane, I haven't done my watch.

A lovely day here - a real change from the last few grey damp days. Haven't seen many birds today but the seeds seem to have gone down quite a bit and dirt and leaves have been thrown everywhere, so that is probably blackbirds.

Jane

Jane Report 25 Oct 2015 13:12

I only changed the time on my watch.OH did the kitchen wall clock and the one he has in his study .The rest reset automatically eg the boiler clock, computers and iPhones.I haven't checked the clock in the car yet but I never look at that one anyway. My oven clock is never set at the right time.

The blackbirds here have been having a field day on the lawn pulling up lovely big juicy worms :-D.I counted 7 last night. The Green Woodpecker and Gt Spotted have been busy too.The Green one on the lawn and the other pecking away on the dead tree next door. It was nice to see that one again

It has been a lovely morning here with the sun shining. We sat out with our coffees earlier. But now it is beginning to feel a little chilly as it is clouding over.

No knowing what he has been up to then Kandj.

Yes we have loads of clocks too, then suddenly remembered all the security timers and the central heating clock. And of course we were awake ages before we needed to be. I do hate the dark evenings so it is a bonus that today is bright and sunny.

We have a little coal tit that has been visiting the past few days, and before we went away too, the two collard doves are back so sadly I think it must have been the young one that was caught, it was very trusting and would stay on the feeder even while we were next to it so obviously didn't recognise the danger of cat. We do still have two of the goldfinches visiting and a few sparrows but no blackbirds. I did spot a robin down the end of the garden yesterday. OH has been busy out there pulling things up as it is garden bin day tomorrow. However the garden is still looking quite good. :-)

kandj Report 25 Oct 2015 10:24

It was good to have an extra hour this morning, but not good to have to alter all the clocks.Hadn't realized we had so many but they are all done now for another 6 months

A few birds around too this bright dry morning, Hedge Sparrows, Robin, Pigeons, Doves, Starlings PLUS Mr and Mrs regular Blackbirds are back.. hurray. No idea where they have been to but Mr Blackbird looks to have damage to his tail feathers??

Jane Report 21 Oct 2015 17:57

My friend always has large Brandy at the airport before flying. No matter what the hour lol.I have nothing before flying except maybe water ,but then once on board will have a couple of wines or a G&T :-D
My Daughter had one horrendous flight (I think coming home from Amsterdam ).Even some of the crew were in tears! She said everything fell out from the overhead lockers too.So that must have been a real rough ride.

Well we are fairly quiet here bird wise.Still plenty on the window feeder. But I don't think I have seen a Wood Pigeon now for a few weeks.I wonder where they have gone.

Yes Maryanna Thomas is still testing LOL.I am wondering what might be outside soon when I call him in.We always have a look out the back door window before opening mjust in case we take a step out and land on something :-S

AnninGlos Report 21 Oct 2015 12:40

Hi, It was pretty rough but I was OK, OH is very calm flying, he flew so much in his working life and worked on aircraft radio/radar in his RN days. I know that if he ever looked worried there would be cause to be so I rely on him. If it bumps a bit he will usually tell me "it is ok, we are over the Bay of Biscay, so won't be long" It bumped a bit on the way out too. I always carry travel pills and used to take just one. I now ear wrist bands and don't take anything, except a large scotch or G&T.

No birds around here now, guess they have been frighytened off by the cat that killed the dove.

Maryanna

Maryanna Report 21 Oct 2015 10:40

Oh Jane, he is certainly testing your affection, isn't he.

Did some gardening yesterday helped by the Robin with a Wren shouting at us from the tree.

The Wood Pigeons seem to be rebuilding their nest in the Holly so another chick on its way, I assume.

Several Blackbirds are about as well , and the usual Sparrows and Magpies.

Glad you had a good holiday Ann, I hate flying. I hated it, got over it then Himself started to panic so although I don't mind too much these days, it's him that gets me wound up not the plane !!!

Ann .I am always worried about bumpy flights.I hope yours wasn't too bad even though
it did sound pretty awful.I have only had one really horrible experience with turbulence and that was flying home from Florence. It gives me the shivers now when I think about it.We have been very lucky really with years of flying and only just one bad flight.
So you are back down to earth now :-D
Have just had to dispose of a dead bunny from the mat outside the back door :-S :-S
Thomas is looking like butter doesn't melt :-S
