AnninGlos Report 1 Dec 2015 16:15

no kandj, sadly, no news of Lucas at all. I just cling to the hope that somebody has found him minus collar who is giving him the cuddles he loves. But at the back of my mind are thoughts of a busy main road not too far away and a railway line nearby as well. We just wait and wonder.

Yes, T said yesterday he wished we'd never started on the bathroom. Besides the fact that we have a soaked cloakroom carpet still not dried out from yesterday, yesterday evening the ceiling light in my office packed up. T has rewired the rose (he does know electrics to a point, but it still doesn't work. so now we think it is the wall switch so have to go tomorrow to get a new one of those. Today we had to go and buy the cushion flooring for the bathroom. He seemed to want it in a hurry, i think to measure the thickness so we dashed off and bought it but I am not sure he has looked at it yet. I suppose we would have trailed around looking for ages but being in a hurry we found what we liked quickly.

then the water had to be drained from the system for some reason not known to the uninitiated so we had no toilet and no heating so we took ourselves to te garden centre to avail ourselves of their radiators and 'facilities'. and...... When we got back the water was on again!!! S*** law! :-D :-D

First of the month...... a pinch and a punch to you all.

Cold, rain and windy here again today, so not a lot of birds about so far.

We don't get long tailed tits but I googled and they look very interesting birds.

How is Thomas liking this cold, wet weather Jane? I'm guessing he isn't impressed.

Good luck with your new bathroom Ann. Been there, done that and scratched our heads and wondered why we had bothered (half way through), but very pleased at the end with the result and I'm sure that you will be too. Any more news of Lucas yet?

They are always so quick to fly away when we see them here too.

Kense Report 1 Dec 2015 09:03

On Friday I just happened to look out of the window as a group of about 8 long-tailed tits landed in the wisteria. They moved on to the clematis after half a minute or so and then left for next door's garden.

I don't often see long tailed tits here but the brevity of the visit made me wonder if they are more frequent visitors than I realise, or was I just lucky on this occasion.

Maybe they were racing pigeons that had been released in a flock and blown off course. I did read that the RSPB said not so many birds are using the garden feeders because of the relatively mild weather. They are still finding food in the fields etc.

Well interesting day here today. Our man arrived at 0815 not having told us that when he arrived first thing, so would the whole bathroom suite, so that is now filling up the conservatory. He worked hard all day and the bathroom is stripped, tiles completely off, old paper off. He had to turn off the water and when he turned it back on he turned it full on. We didn't realise, we know if you do that it is too fierce, flushed the downstairs loo and flooded the cloakroom as the water gushed out of the custern, so cloakroom carpet is drying in the garage, underlay is drying in the cloakroom. We collected the tiles, haven't been able to check them yet so fingers crossed they are ok.
Then, just as it got dark the light bulb went in my 'office'. Trued two others, none work so there is a connection problem somewhere. OH to look at that tomorrow, before or after the dentist. And Alan will be on the doirstep at 0815 again tomorrow. :-(

My Sisters cat Kia used to suck earlobes.I have to say it was a very strange feeling but actually quite lovely :-D.She would snuggle in to your shoulder and latch on.Just like a baby.
Very quiet here today with the birds.I think the wind might have blown them off course :-S
I have seen HUGE flocks of (I think ) Pigeons .They suddenly take to the sky as though in fright.it is very strange..I thought at first they were Crows, but I am pretty sure they were Pigeons.

Yes raining and cold here too. I think she is saying 'stop pointing that thing at me and pick me up for a cuddle'?? she was sitting on the bed we were using waiting to be picked up, if I stand close to the bed she climbs up to nuzzle my ear.

Ann I was at school when I knew Chris Dawson (the Owner of The Range). He was always a right Jack the lad.Left school at 14 or 15.A big group of us would meet at a local cafe at lunch time at school. I saw a programme the other night (Eammon and Ruth) and see that he is now a Billionaire !!!!!!!.He hasn't changed a bit LOL still the lovable rogue he was way back .
Love Luna's pic.She looks like she is saying something there :-)

There have been Red Kites and Buzzards around today .The Kites flying very low. They must all be hungry.
It is absolutely chucking it down here now.Rain battering the window :-| :-|

AnninGlos Report 28 Nov 2015 16:58

I have changed Luna's photo for a better one, both taken while I was up there.

Yes I am sure that she will get cuddles from grandson, he is a cat person, has two himself.

We have been out buying bits for the bathroom, we were looking at paint in homebase but they didn't have the bathroom paint in the colour we wanted so we went to the range, and they had an off on exactly the right paint, same make (Dulux) and colour and £7 off. £14.99 instead of £21.99.

Jane

Jane Report 27 Nov 2015 21:46

Ann ,I think Luna will be fine. Grandson will be feeding her and giving her a few loves and cuddles .Just a few minutes of human contact each day should be enough :-)

AnninGlos Report 27 Nov 2015 13:59

I don't think she was missing him while we were there Kandj, she just lapped up all th extra attention. However, she is used to him being out while she is in more than she is out. But this week she may miss him as daughter is away and Grandson is visiting to feed her, they were used to being left for holidays like this but i feel she may be lonely on her own poor puss.

Hello all

Lots and lots of Starlings have emptied the ground and window feeder today. I have refilled them both so lets see if they come back, but I hope they don't... too greedy!!

Thanks Jane, I will have a look in the pets aisle for cheaper cat milk. It's all new to me.

Ann, I hope Lucas will show up soon. Is Luna missing him or just enjoying extra fuss?

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 26 Nov 2015 18:49

Jane they were not sure at the rescue centre if they were brother and sister or not but they had always lived together as far as they knew. They are certainly about the same age but nothing at all alike to look at. Lucas is slim with long legs, very sleek and vey quck, very much an outdoor hunting type cat (as he has proved). He has a face shaped similar to a siamese type. Luna is smaller, rounder with short legs and a flatter face, she likes home comforts, sleeping on a warm bed and lots of cuddles.

Jane Report 26 Nov 2015 17:10

Kandj I had jaw ache and face ache LOLWe are a right pair when we get the giggles.

Ann she is my 'little Sister'.4 and 3 quarters younger. She enjoyed her time here as she could just relax and sleep when ever she felt like it.She has a very hectic and stressful life .So she is able to switch off when she is here :-D.We have very quiet household which is completely the opposite from hers.

I am so sorry that Lucas is still missing :-(..I just hope nothing bad had happened to him and that he is safe and well with someone .

Kandj ,I can always pack Thomas up and send him to you for a while .You are very welcome to him :-D :-D
Do you have a Supermarket near you? One of the big names? They do their own Cat Milk which is so much cheaper than the big brand one.I think I pay £1.25 for 3 little cartons of Sainsburys own. Each carton lasts a good few days as I just pour enough to covwr the bottom of a little dish.I think single cartons are 75p so it works out much better to buy the packs of 3.

We had the Gt Spotted Woodpecker on the window feeder this morning :-D :-D.I think it looks like a young one .His little head hardly reached over the top of the seed tray lol as the feet grip on the bottom. It did manage to get a few suet pellets :-D.

Luna is a beautiful cat Ann.Is she 'actual' sister to Lucas?

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 26 Nov 2015 16:49

Lucas is completely all jet black Kandj so photos don't really work. Luna is tabby and much smaller than Lucas. No news of Lucas anyway. I think he will only be found if he turns up at a vets or a rescue centre and they find his micro chip.

Hello all

Ann is your Avatar a photo of Lucas? Has he turned up at your daughters yet?
Edit..Ooops, sorry I just spotted the cat is Luna (hope Lucas comes back soon).

Vera you will be counting down the days before your son and partner come to visit.

Jane, have you got jaw-ache with all the girly chattering with your Sister?

Nothing of much interest here only the usual birds eating everything in sight.
I bought some cat milk to put in the dish for the neighbours cat. At 98p a carton I need to visit the village pet shop and check out something cheaper to entice them and keep our garage mice free. Perhaps Jane would lend me Thomas???

SuffolkVera Report 25 Nov 2015 20:29

I had missed you too Jane so am glad you are OK and have been having a good time with your sister.

After a few grotty days I am looking forward to the weekend when my son and his partner are coming, just for a day and a night. Don't see a lot of them so every visit is a bonus, though he won't have his girls with him this time.

Just as it was getting dark I looked out of the window to see 8 collared doves apparently settling down for the night on top of the garden table. Not sure what they were doing there but they did look funny.

I do hope Lucas is managing to catch his supper.
Pleased that you are ok Jane, nice to have quality time with your sister (big sister? Little sister?

Jane

Jane Report 25 Nov 2015 20:01

I'm here :-D..I have had my Sister staying with me for a few days so haven't really had chance to get on the computer. We had a lovely time just having good old chats and laughs and doing a bit od retail therapy :-D

it was Wacky Races in the lounge just now. That cat caught a mouse in the garage when I went in to get him a pouch of cat food.He then brought it through and dropped it.Thankfully he caught it again and I managed to get him out the back door with it.
So that was his supper :-S :-S..Peace reigns once more :-D :-D

AnninGlos Report 25 Nov 2015 17:40

Not seen Jane on here for almost a week, hope she is OK, or maybe I missed that she was going away??

Had a funny sort of day really. Had to go to tesco earlier than usual as the boiler man cometh at 12. So we decided to have breakfast there. got there to find cafe closed for refurbishment, so no breakfast, no coffee even :-( got the shopping, no problems.

got home, boiler serviced, no problems there either.
Then decided to do a few jobs at local shops, collect prescriptions, post a packet, take stuff to charity shop, had trouble parking as a truck was delivering to McColls, then someone moved and that was ok.

Drove across Gloucester, down horrid road we usually avoid to choose tiles for the new bathroom which is being started on Monday next. Found and ordered tiles, no problem there. Back to another branch of Tescos through more horrendous traffic, it now being wet and dark and still only 2pm, not had lunch so ordered soup, bread came, ordinary sliced, butter all sloppy, managed to spread it, soup came, cold, sent back, came back too hot, really mouth burning hot (daren't complain again). soup was actually not bad (tomato and basil). Afterwards to my favourite place :-S B&Q (Wednesday 10% day for over 60s), for bathroom cabinets (we need two), Soap holder, toilet roll holder, shower racks, toilet brush and holder, expanding shaving mirror. Success, we found everything we wanted and a few bits more. go to the till to be told the 10% is not given on bathroom accessories. so we left the trolley and walked out. Next I tried Home sense for bathroom things and OH tried Topi (?) for flooring for the bathroom, both without success. so we drove home and by now it is really dark (4.30) and the roads are congested with school traffic. :-(

Oh well tomorrow is another day and this time OH will remember to take with him the vouchers he has for B&Q which don't have restrictions on them. :-)
