Thanks Ann.lol ..We can celebrate next week in Antwerp :-D 'tis a bit disappointing though as I was looking forward to tonight.

Just caught the squirrel sitting and munching in the window feeder.I have still yet to see it jump onto the feeder.I used to think it was from a branch on the tree but it is off the window sill...

Happy anniversary Jane and Mr Jane. I hope you will soon feel better Jane and then you can really celebrate. I bet your flowers cheered you up.

A large box arrived here this morning addressed to Mr & Mrs----. Opened it and it was a lovely rose plant and some rather special chocs. The card with it wished us a happy Golden anniversary. Great, except that our 50th was 14 months ago!

Jane Report 31 May 2014 17:53

It seems to have been a fairly quite day on the feeder.I topped it up this morning and it is still half full.Obviously the Squirrel has kept away.No doubt because OH has been in the garden all day.
The Nightingale is still around :-D,but I have yet to see it .
My cold has come out big time today a right old streamer .Nose like a tap and bunged up at the same time :-SI am sat here with a tissue up each nostril lol(just to keep my keyboard dry )

Kandj says Hello to everyone. :-D.I think she looks in on the thread but is not posting just yet.

SuffolkVera Report 31 May 2014 18:16

Poor you Jane. I hope your cold clears up quickly. A nice rum toddy or a few stiff whiskies might help ;-)

Still thinking of Kandj and her OH and hoping things are improving for them.

I'm sitting upstairs at the computer by an open window and a blackbird outside is singing his heart out. Can't see him but I think he might be on the roof above me and he sounds wonderful. There's nothing quite like a blackbird singing on a calm spring evening is there.

Jane

Jane Report 31 May 2014 18:50

Ah ,Vera I might get OH to do me a Whiskey ,Honey and lemon tonight.(I don't like Rum).
I just love hearing the Blackbirds singing .It is a very calm and still evening here too.Not a breath of air.It almost feels like the calm before a storm .

Jane Report 1 Jun 2014 20:10

No Ann :-S.I have spent most of the day lying on one bed or another lol and I am now off to bed again for the night now.I can't face dinner tonight so will just take a Banana and a couple of Breakfast biscuits up with me.
I have 2 days to shake it off .It's been at its worst today so hopefully it will start to ease off now.No awful cough this time,so that is a big plus :-D

I just had a little family of Gt Tits out for feeding time.Four youngsters on a branch and the adult picking up the pellets from the feeder. The noise was quite something with all the frantic high pitched squealing and shaking of little wings :-D.They looked so sweet.
It has all gone quiet now so they must have settled for the night.Which is what I will do too :-D

AnninGlos Report 1 Jun 2014 21:13

Oh goodness Jane fingers crossed that you will feel ok for your holiday. Little birds being fed are so sweet aren't they? Even young starlings have sime charm :-)

Jane

Jane Report 3 Jun 2014 17:30

I had the Spotted Woodpecker on the feeder earlier.I have a feeling it might be a new one as it didn't quite seem to know how to hang on and get it's head over the top of the tray to get the food lol.
Tomorrow morning i will wash it all out and fill it up to the brim before we go off.it is looking pretty mucky as i think some little birdies have done doo doos in it :-S
It looks like it is going to be pretty hot in Antwerp while we are there.Bit too hot for my liking really but I mustn't moan.I have a big hand fan packed so I can flap away with that lol.
I feel so much better today BUT that horrible cough unfortunately has returned. Not as bad as last time though :-D
So I'll say tatty bye for now and see you all again on the 10th

Happy Holiday Jane.

kandj I hope you are well and able to find time for yourself <3

Our garden is very busy with mums and dads feeding their young :-D it never ceases to amaze me how quick the young birds learn to fend for themselves.

Yesterday we had a stoat or weasle running up and down along the hedge, my photography is so bad the picture I took of it was just a blur :-| :-D

Mainly starlings and blue and great tits feeding their young in our garden, too quick to catch on camera though. :-)

Kandj hope all is going ok, maybe see you back on here sometime soon, we miss you. <3

Thank you Ann, I must say that isn't my hand in the picture...mine are much worse;-)

In between the showers yesterday I was weeding the drive and noticed a blackbird going in and out of the garrya, when mum was out I had a peek and sure enough there was a nest full of baby blackbirds:-D

N Lesley, lots of mouths to feed.

AnninGlos Report 6 Jun 2014 09:24

Had a blackcap on the feeders yesterday which was a change from Starlings. Although the blackbirds have been in the garden a lot, they come in for their bath!! This morning there were a large family of sparrows with the young ones being fed as well as feeding themselves. Yesterday I watched a young sparrow take ages to work out how to approach one of the feeders, it was as if he stopped to think about how his mum told him to do it. But he managed in the end, he was so tiny.

Maryanna Report 6 Jun 2014 10:51

The Collared Doves have now abandoned the apple tree, having had their egg stolen by a Magpie last week and the Wood Pigeons are back in residence.

They are constantly in and out of the tree with bits of grass and twigs. A Magpie is sitting in the top of the tree chattering with anticipation of the thought, most likely, of his next treat.

I am rather glad I won't be here over he weekend , to hear the battles.

My husband has been wanting to take the tree down for a long time, after the last few years, I am starting to agree with him. This year has been particularly bad with the Magpies, I don't know if I can put up with it every year. If they aren't after the Pigeons and Doves in our apple tree then they are after the Sparrows in the Thug's Blackthorn, not that we can do much about that.

How can such beautiful birds be so horrible ?

M. :-(
