Thanks Muffy. Strange how we get attached to characters isn't it?

I must admit though, I do still enjoy reading a real book!

Ann I wouldn't rush to read it..so if you have others I'd charity shop it lol.

Just finished reading Lady of the Rivers........AT LAST !! loved it as usual and am now re reading The White Queen just because i don't want to leave the characters lol.

Have decided from now on I will ask family for Amazon gift vouchers rather than a book as ..having read Lady of Rivers in paperback..my first real book in ages......I've decided I'd rather read on the Kindle ..x

Dermot

I've just finished 'A Wistful Eye - the tragedy of a Titanic Shipwright' published recently by Titanic Press & written by D J Kelly from Manchester.

Set against the background of the construction & demise of Belfast's iconic super liner & the effects of the First World War on industrial & community relations in the area, it tells the harrowing story of an ordinary but intelligent working man's battle with social injustice. Although a tragedy, the story is told with a sprinkle of humour, pathos & an obvious affection for many of the characters.

The main character is William Henry Kelly, the author's paternal great grandfather. The author, D J Kelly, is better known to me as Denise, my first cousin.

Muffy, I saw that you read Edwina Currie A Parliamentary affair. I have had it on my bookshelf for a couple of years. Is it worth reading or would you send it to a charity shop? I have loads of others to read.

Reading Josephine Cox, More than riches. Quite like her books if I don't want my brain to be taxed too much.

I'm reading Allen Carrs book but it is slow going as I only read in bed and half a page and I am asleep. I am wanting to start rereading Jean Auels books again, the Valley of the Horses, etc, but they are so good I have to read them all in a go, so will have to put some time aside.

Afternoon from a soggy London :- That last book where I couldn't remember the name? Hostile Witness. Well it started off great, good unusual plot etc, but it went off the boil somehow and it was an effort to finish it. But I did.

Am now reading an American Writer, Anne Tyler's latest book called......er.....anyway!! :-D I have read all of her books and if you like something quirky, surprising, gentle, beautiful writing then you will enjoy her books. This one is about a man whose wife dies in a freak accident concerning a tree falling, but she starts to turn up as if nothing happened, and he happily accepts it as he misses her so much.

I shall tell you when I finish it, if it has a happy ending :-D BC XX

Haven't posted on here before but I often look at the thread as I read a lot. Thought it was about time I added something. I have just started Earthly Joys by Philippa Gregory. It's about the gardener John Tradescant and his relationship with Robert Cecil and Cecil's homes and gardens.
