Ive finally finished Neverwood and thoroughly enjoyed it im going tostart Ravenscliffe by the same author.....hopefully its as enjoyable as the last one

The book I have just finished was The American Boy by Andrew Taylor.

Shortlisted by Richard and Judy back in 2005 and reviewed by The Independent as 'Deeply absorbing and beautifully written.. he creates an atmosphere close to Sarah Waters' Fingersmith'

I was really looking forward to it. Very disappointing - not easy to follow, and the atmosphere he created was nowhere near close to that created by Sarah in her books

Have just got hold of Valentine Grey, by Sandi Toksvig, and am hoping it will make for more interesting reading than the last 'Grey' book I read !! I have been waiting for it from the library for some time

Just finished Virgin Earth which I enjoyed although I wasn't always sure how much was historical fact and how much was made up novel.

Just started re-reading Nella Last's Peace. I first read it a long while ago. It's a follow-on from Nella Last's War which Victoria Wood made into a television drama called Housewife, 49. She must have been such a frustrated lady - she was expected to be "just a housewife" but had a good brain and could write well. Such a shame her writings were confined to her diaries for Mass Observation. (She can be a bit of an irritating prig though!)

Have finished 'Stairlift to Heaven' and really enjoyed
it, an easy laugh out loud read.

Oh I liked Girl in a painted caravan so will look out for the sequel.
