Downloaded to take on holiday, got loads of free books on my kindle now to read while away.

Hope you enjoy it - it's quite a 'light' read but a page turner none-the-less.

I loved the little humorous snippets – the H&S officers who despairs that the R&D team keep removing the batteries from the fire detectors; All Historians have long wild hair (+ beards for the males) and consider a mug and tea an essential travel item.

A mystery with a touch of romance, but not the ‘stare into her limpid eyes’ type.

Hope she releases the next instalment soon!

Just finished The Lonely Desert which is the sequel to Footsteps in the Sand by Sarah Challis. Enjoyed both books very much.

A book some of you may find interesting called
Winter King by Thomas Penn.
It's about Henry VII and according to Tony Robinson
a good read.

Just read Someday I'll find you by Richard Madeley. surprisingly good, part romance, part thriller.

Yes GiN it would make a good holiday book or book to read on the plane.

AnninGlos - I enjoyed The Beach Café, it was a nice, lighthearted read. I also enjoyed The Beach Hut by Veronica Henry - reads a bit like short stories that are linked, but come together as a satisfying whole. :-)

Finished Roy Chubby Brown ....not all that good imo.

Now reading The Last Godfather.

Still ploughing my way through Citadel by Kate Mosse. Don't think I'm enjoying it as much as the other two in the trilogy, maybe because it's set around the French Resistance during World War 2 - but it's growing on me, just another 600 pages to go! :-D

Just finished The Beach Cafe by Lucy diamond. enjoyed it, good relaxing reading. :-)

Love Kate Morton books

That sort of book is always interesting Barry if you know something about the people or company involved.

I've finished The Secret Keeper and enjoyed it much more than I expected. The ending was a complete surprise - I hadn't guessed it at all. I might look for another Kate Morton book next time I'm in the library.

I've started reading 'Bread' by Ian Gregg. This is the story of Greggs, the country wide bakers.

Ian gives a very detailed insight to the family business / company and also many of the folks / workers - and how they progressed after the founding father, John, died in 1964.

My particular interest in this book is because my late Margaret started and worked for several years at the original shop age 15 as a trainee confectioner / cake decorator when it was known as Gregg's of Gosforth. I know some of the names mentioned in this book.

Oh, that it could have been published two years ago when she was alive! She would have loved to read it.

All proceeds go to charity and for Breakfast Clubs for children.
(Why we need 'Breakfast Clubs' in this day and age truly beggars belief!!)

I've just started (on kindle) Settling the Account, the third book of the "Promises To Keep" trilogy by Shayne Parkinson.

They're about a young lass who has a hard life in rural New Zealand in the 1890s. A lot of it's a bit grim (she has some hard knocks) but she comes through. It's not all doom and gloom or else I wouldn't be onto the third one! The characters are very good.

First in trilogy is Sentence of Marriage (currently free), the second is Mud and Gold (£1.92)

Loved BUTB :-D ooh they were bloody days! she's a great writer could picture the scenes vividly.

Mau,..is it The Kashmir Shawl by Rosie Thomas? This was recommended by AnnGlos, I think, and was a really good read. I just loved Bring Up The Bodies, hope you enjoyed it <
