I am now wondering if I've met Christina before on UK Scrappers LOL

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 13 Mar 2010 17:35

Christina judging by today that £80 will soon disappear. I bought one of the Tim Holtz distress inks just to see how I get on with it. I think it was £4.99, but some of the stickles were a lot cheaper than Hobbycraft.

I did a family history scrap book, it was the first one I did, I was and am pleased with it.

Thank you for the welcome.
At the moment I am working on a scrapbook diary of 2010 (its featured on UKscrappers). A double layout per month. I have been on February pages today.
I have just started a family history one too. Although I have only completed one page so far. I am waiting for a death certificate for an aunt as I think her death may be articled in the local newspaper. I would like to include this on th page.

ANyone going to the Harrogate show next week? I am going on Saturday. Been saving up my £2 coins to spend on stash = have £80 so cant wait. Think I might buy sone Tim Holtz stuff.

So my go on friday to avoid the weekend crowds plan might have backfired then LOL Glad you had a good time Ann and that you found the dies, I quite like the shaped/curved one so it will probably be on the list for another time.

I've been playing with my new inks this afternoon, more ATCs needed to be mad so a perfect opportunity to try them out.

Welcome Christina

Hi just wanted to say hello to everyone. I have been a member of Genes Reunited for years but only found this thread today.

I love to scrapbook so I hope you dont mind if I hang out here.
I used to make cards but then started on scrapbooking and that has taken over!

Sallie, you are sooo right, all spent up. Then we came home to the gas/electric bill and they have put our monthly payment (combined) up by £40.

Well, as Sarah said..... Wow. Yes it was lovely weather at Malvern too Daff albeit with a cold wind. However the craft show was indoors. It was heaving, but according to one stall holder not as heaving as it was on Friday. We were lucky, we were there by 10.30 so managed to get a coffee before the crowds arrived, it would have been useless later. Goodness knows how much I spent on must haves, way over £50 I am sure, luckily I took cash as some stalls didn't take the card. I am glad that you mentioned the frames like nestabilities Sarah, I finally tracked them down but doubt I would have seen them without your hint! I bought two in the end the shaped/curved one and a square one. It was a really good show though and one stallholder said he was pleased with the response, apparently they have moved from Cheltenham and he was dubious whether they would get enough people but he said there were a lot more. There was certainly a lot of money changing hands.

Daff, hope you can find a crop but you can turn up on my doorstep any time. Not that I'd be a great help, most of what I do is self taught and hit and miss Lol!!!!

Sallie Report 13 Mar 2010 15:46

I made three birthday cards yesterday for my son, his birthday is on Monday. Considering it was the first time I've made cards, I was quite pleased with them, hope R likes them. I've been thinking about buying a Cuttlebug or a Big Shot machine, for months, but can't make up mind which one to have. Although, the odds are more in favour of the Cuttlebug, as it looks a lot more compact than the Big Shot. Never know, I might make my mind up one day!

Daff, we have the rugby on here too. It's a pity we aren't living near each other, we could have had a mini meet in Range and Dunelm. I hope you managed to get what you wanted.

I bet Ann is having a good time at Malvern, probably all spent up by now.

Scatty you sound a bit like me, not being able to make your mind up. I just want to make sure, that whichever one I get it'll be easy to use.

Dizzi, that's a good price for an 8x8 album. I am thinking of doing two that size, just for family pets, past and present.
Got so many photos of them all, so thought I'd start putting them in scrapbooks.

Dizzi,I boughttwo of those when they were a fiver each... am gutted!! But I still think I got a bargain... I've tucked them away, so they will come in either as prezzies or to fill and use later...... I am finding *going small* a bit of a struggle, lolol

Sarah, thanks for that.... I think I must have one... I really do like to make my own embellishments, and have found it quite frustrating today, not being able to achieve quite what I wanted... but I have persevered, and am now looking proudly at a card I would gladly give my mum... I love it... and I threw away the sketch I was using!!

I haven't managed to get out yet.... I had a spurt of inspiration just as I was going, and that stopped me in my tracks... but I am pleased it did, lolol

Jan.... wmsl... we'll have to make a pact, to take it in turns to ask the numpty questions, lololol

Ann, the weather has been glorious here... hope it has been in Malvern, as well..... and not too cold, either, I know how you hate to be cold!

Sarah,as far as a crop is concerned, there seem to be a couple in the area.... I shall make enquiries... otherwise Ann will find me turning up on her doorstep like little orphan Annie, lolol!!

Oh well... off to take some photos of my card... and do the inscription page. I have scanned the embellishments, so I will collage then mute them, and write an inscription over the top... if I can work out how to do it, lol... see you next week!!

Love

Daff xxxx

The Cuttlebug is a die cutting machine made by the same people who make the cricut electronic cutting system. I've had mine for over a year now and wouldn't be without it. You can use pretty much all makes of dies in it and it folds up nicely for storage or transporting. I'm sure there are some good demos on you tube.

I'd recommend a crop if you can find one Daff, it's nice to see what other people are doing and you can learn and be inspired and get to spend time with people who get what you are doing. I actually travel over 30 miles to my crop, there are a couple closer but they didn't suit me and the local one I did go to doesn't run anymore. I keep saying I'll start my own, maybe one day

Ohhh Daff am glad you asked what a cuttlebug is - Im sure I will need one as well.
I did look Malvern up on the map and although not too far after all my online shopping I thought I best resist :-))

MrDaff Report 13 Mar 2010 09:21

My men will be watching the rugby today.... I wondered why they looked at me in horror yesterday when I wrote out and told them my plans for the weekend... which included a lot of tidying up in the garden today, lolol.

So.... having just remembered that the rugby is on... I shall be kind and let them watch... so I am off to Dunelm and the Range to find some nice new hole punches to play with while they are doing that.

Yesterday, I made 4 cards for mother's day, and didn't like one of them enough to give to my mum.... so I haven't stuck the *Mother's Day* tag on them.... I shall put them away and maybe I will finish them in a week or so.

I used pre bought pearlised card, but don't have embellishments to tone in with that... everything either looks too cutesie, or too formal...

I had a go at stamping, and wasn't keen.... but didn't actually know what I was trying to achieve, so that was probably why.

Ann.... what is a cuttlebug? I have seen them mentioned a few times... I will go and google as well... I have a feeling I might have to have one, lolol I do know that I really want a die cutting machine..... I never seem to have just the right thing for a project........ *sigh*..... and when you look at the tools used by folk in the magazines.... well, I wouldn't know where to start.

I am going to look for a crop in the area... I think that is the way to learn.

Loads of love

~~~~~ to Ann..... have a lovely day out xx
Entrance costs £7.50/£6.50 but if you buy before you go you can get £3 off the ticket price using offer codes I used 'SHOWGROUND'
You print the tickets from the email they send you and I've just been on the website and it seems to still be working.
The nestabilities type dies I bought are by Little Claire Designs and they work great in the cuttlebug. I was straight on the website to find out which plates to use but it's quite easy as it is A+B+C. They are about £6 a set cheaper than the real nestabilities and I will be getting more. I bought the frilly oval set but they do square, rectangle, circle and oval in both frilly (scalloped) and plain. You get four different sizes in each set and can cut solids and frames. Certainly for what I want them for they are going to be ideal.
AnninGlos Report 12 Mar 2010 16:04
Thanks Sarah, might go tomorrow then, how much is the entrance? I shall of course hold you responsible for any money I spend Lol!!!!
I f you get round to trying the 'nestabilities by tonight let me know if they work in the Cuttlebug please.
Just back from Malvern and all I can say is wow! I could honestly have spent all of my money in the first hour. There was a lovely range of scrapbook papers on a couple of the stands but I managed to resist that I have enough LOL
I didn't manage to resist a selection of the new tim holtz distress ink colours (they were on my list) some stamps and a job lot of double sided tape (twelve 30m rolls for £5). Plus a few other things including a british version of nestibilities dies that I want to try in my cuttlebug.
If the show is there again next year i am definitely going!
Oh and made quite a nice gilded card in my workshop with Stephanie Weightman
