Will look forward to hearing more about these Linda.
And Sarah, let us know how you get on selling your stash on ebay.

Lol Sarah...I blame you for getting me interested in Tim Holtz's stuff in the first place! Along with the TSV kit I bought a while back on QVC I now have a drawer full of distress ink pads. Seeing the dies in the shop and knowing how difficult they are to get hold of I just had to snap them up.

They work brilliantly with the Cuttlebug and the swirls are just lovely however I have only experimented using cardstock. I went on to YouTube and found a video using the dies on the Cuttlebug with chipboard...so I have now ordered some chipboard online!

Good luck with EBay.

I'm envious Linda! I've had my eyes on the Tim Holtz dies since before they reached this country but so far them being in stock has never matched with me having money to spend. Perhaps I will be able to treat myself when I get the stuff I have been sorting out sold on ebay. That's one of the reasons I've not been about trying to sort my stash mountain, that and real life getting in the way of my online one - the weather has been too nice not to be outside

Well... my cuttlebug is going to get plenty of use now lol. We have been away for the weekend and I found a craft shop that sold Sizzix Tim Holtz Alterations dies...I went mad and bought 2.

One die is 2 lovely swirls and the other is a hanging sign complete with bracket.

I didn't get chance to try them out tonight so guess what I will be doing tomorrow!!

Jane, I will nudge up the birthday cards thread, go on there where there are more proficient card makers than me, Jo will probably know. I know the ones you mean though.

Linda, glad you were able to get inspiration from this thread.

Pleased to hear that you have finished your page Ann and you are pleased with it. The last page I did was using 5 photos...very not me at all as I usually only use one photo but you gave me the inspiration to use more when reading this thread. I had the layout for at least a week on the desk...swapping and changing every so often but it really worked out well. Our 2 eldest grandsons on the beach.

As for my wooden box...I agree Ann my thoughts exactly however I got carried away with the Altered Art bit... very creative though. It does look a little forlorn and I will just titivate it up someway...nothing drastic though me thinks.

Do you know Von I never thought of that..I ask myself why lol! He was my only maternal side uncle and although he emigrated to Aus in 1965 (I was a mere 20 year old and just married) we were always extremely close. I have a drawer full of letters and photos etc I never threw anything away...far too precious. Many thanks.

Oh I wish I could paint...I am not at all artistic. I did start taking photos of rocks, stones and sand etc for seaside page themes though....again I think this was one of your tips Ann??

Linda
Maybe rather than altering the box you could keep something special in there.
Maybe even write down the memories you have of your uncle and keep it in the box then your descendants will know why you treasured the box.
I've lots of bits like that so maybe I need to get writing.

Recently I scanned some pieces of paper that I had painted and that I liked too much to cut. They have printed out really well and I can cut away to my hearts content knowing that I can print out another piece.
Take care
Von

My thoughts are, if you alter it will it still be the same box to you Linda? Just a thought.

Hi Ann and everyone...

I haven't done any pages for ages either the garden has taken over!

However I am getting withdrawal symptons though for doing something crafty especially when sorting out some cupboards I came across a wooden box that my uncle made in woodwork at school.

It is just a plain hinged lid box that my nan used to keep shoe polish and brushes in however it is now over 70 years old and holds memories of my dear uncle who only died 18 months ago in Australia.

I am not at all sure what I will do with it...I would like to make it special though. Has anyone got any ideas please.

Edit...I have been looking on the net at blogs of crafters who do Altered Art mainly with Tim Holtz distress products....wow I am in awe. Far to advanced for me...I wouldn't know where to start lol. So beautiful though!

I have just started a scrap page of Granddaughter taken this month, my first page for at least two months, I had to really think about where all the papers etc are. I have been so busy doing other things I hadn't realised it was so long since I did any. Quite pleased with it so far.

I have three different Butterfly punches, and lots of Fiskars embossing thingies with butterflies on them... plus a Fiskars template for a large butterfly, decoupage style, plus a fair few stamps... Littlie loves two of the punches in particular, one makes a standy uppy butterfly that is still attached to the paper, sort of filigree... it looks wonderful if you back it with a contrasting coloured paper... the other is the teeniest of stamps. They do them in bigger sizes as well, but never seem to have them in when I go.

I'll google for them.

Littlie is coming to stay earlier this month, and will be here for my birthday, so she can help me choose some more. She loves Hobbycraft, and goes straight to *our* section... train 'em up young ;¬))

No Daf doesnt do the 12x12
but ot does do nestabillities I have only one pack at the moment and they are prob as Ann described the point frame ones lol they are sort of square but not square - I realise this makes no sense - I got a lot od bits for it and was going to get the nestabilities round but then I thought I have got a couple of large scalloped punches so went for something different - I got quite a few embossing bits and pieces Most of my stuff is Sizzix.
Ohhhh I have a lovely butterfly punch Daff

Littlie and I have a real thing about butterflies, Ann... she sits for ages stamping them out, and then sticking them everywhere.... Grampy's jumper is her favourite place, lol I will keep and eye open for the Spellbinder one.

I did treat myself to the Spellbinder shapeability butterfly while I was away. I also have a spellbinder nestabilities cicles and a shapeability flowers plus a littleclaire squares and pointy frames.
I think the littleclaire ones are not so robust but they do the job, I haven't really played with all of them yet so have to get around to that soon. I actually like using the Sissix dies as well in the cuttlebug.

MrDaff

MrDaff Report 14 Jun 2010 21:30

Mmmmmmm yes, they are lovely..... and I have added a couple to the list as well.... need to compare the sizes and prices of a couple, as there looks to be a good price on some of the nests. Thank you Ann... I did love the frontspiece, but couldn't see it as a die :¬((

You really know how to torture someone, Ann, lolol.... I love the spellbinders, and I bet I will love the dies at Littleclair, lolol.... and all my budget for this month has been spended!! But.... son will be giving me some pennies on Wednesday, mmmmmmm!

Jan, does it do 12 x12 papers (embossing) The only down side of the cuttlebug I think is that it might be small for some things... but I did notice that there were some extension thingies, which could mean bigger scrolls and suchlike. Other than that, it looks similar to my little cuttlebug.

I am off to look at Littleclair now. This prezzie list is getting longer by the minute ;¬))

No wonder you had to move house Jan, all this machinery you are acquiring.

As well as the Spellbinder nestabillities Daff also look at www.littleclaire.co.uk they do similar dies but cheaper.
