I wrote out my Christmas cards on the weekend, and Im off to post them this morning.
I have 2 international ones this year and 14 others to my far flung family. I decided to post to the ones who I dont see very much, as its getting too expensive.
Im feeling much better now and I hope to get back to a bit of sewing soon.

Thanks for your welcome Jean. Our teacher says she sold absolutely everything she made with buttons at her last craft fair!

Yesterday we made some quite fiddly, but pretty necklaces, but a bit more work is needed to finish mine! I will send Ann a photo when I've finished it to see if she wants to include it.

It is very interesting on here seeing what different things people make.

Hi, Bridget, the memory albums are also known as scrapbooks, but I prefer the name memory albums, its a great way of getting some of the many photos we all collect and sorting them out by putting them on 12x12 pages, or smaller books 8x8, adding your thoughts and memories of that time, I have loads of them , example, our trip to America, daughter, also my Nanas Boast book of my grandson from birth up to now it covers 30 years... I have made them for others too.
you can make them just about any subject you want, Have a look on Anns blog there are one or two pages on there, Ann does them too. or google scrapbooking and there are lots of sites that will give you the general idea... if I can help in any way feel free to ask.....
love jean x

I feel rather humble at even thinking about joining this amazing thread, what a talented group you are.

My talent in arts and crafts is very limited, I enjoy embroidery, cross stitch, and can knit but not as evenly as I used to.
I am just about to start crocheting a shawl for the grandchild due next February.
Just Jean how do you make the memory albums, I really like the idea of this?

Bracelets sound a bit chunky, were they Ann? Let us know what the necklaces are like next week. Photo maybe?

Some photos from Shaun on the photo blog.

Moonbi, you must be feeling pretty awful. Hope you start to feel better soon. Nothing worse than the cough, cough, cough.

We had a giggle going into jewellery class today. We looked like we were all armed and going out 'on the rob with coshes' with our pipes, poles and handles in all sizes!

Today we wound long wire coils and made them into bracelets with bead clasps, not my cup of tea at all to be honest, but all good practice. A necklace again next week. :-D

hello all.
been off the boards for a couple of days as I just cant think properly.
Dr said I have lung infection, bronchitis and sinusitis. Am on 2 different types of antibiotics.
One so big I can hardly swallow it, but not allowed to break it.
the other small enough.
I have to take for 1 repeats and then go back for another checkup.
Its the headaches and the coughing that does me in. and I have to sleep sitting up in my lazyboy.

I would love to get back to my sewing, and alas my christmas cards are on hold just when I wanted to get them written up early.

I love the chunky necklace that Annx has made with the big wooden beads.

Goodness you learn a lot on this thread, who'd have thought that making jewellery would involve plumbing piping?

Von, could you comment before. Not everyone is able to. Some have to send their comments to me and I add for them. Are you registered on the blog? :-)

Annx

Annx Report 17 Nov 2011 19:43

Thank you for that Von.......I do believe we might have a bit the plumbers left when they did the bathroom. It would be just the ticket!!

Von

Von Report 17 Nov 2011 19:41

AnnX
Bits of plastic plumbing pipes are excellent for this if you have any friends who are plumbers. :-D
Take care

Thank you Sallie and Von. It is actually much easier than I expected to be honest. Mind you, we have only threaded onto wire up to now and I suspect using thread would be more tricky. I have been scrounging broken jewellery from friends and family and have bought quite a few things from Charity shops, just to get the beads! The good thing I like is being able to make necklaces the right length for me......ones I buy are often too long. For tomorrow's class we have to take a piece of pole to wind thick wire around for a bracelet, so I better go and have a root around in the garage!! Last resort will be the frying pan handle!!

Annx, I love the necklace and tiara, you must have some patience to sit and do all that intricate work. Well done! Hope you will put some more of your work on Ann's blog as it's nice to see all the different things that everyone can make.

Sorry you have not been well Moonbi, hope you soon feel better. I must say the cards and quilts I have seen on the blog are very impressive. What patience and brilliant imaginations you all must have.

I knitted 2 stripey christmas socks to hang up last year BC and wasn't sure what would happen with the 'heels'!! lol. They did come out quite well at the finish but it helped doing the heels bright red and I had to tick off each row as I did it or I'm sure I'd have gone wrong. I wasn't impressed when I found OH trying them on though......clipped his ear!!
