That's a good idea Ann, I think I will do that. I have a seperate little white twig tree I made with birds, little silvery baubles and icicles on it. OH thinks I should do another one for the fairies!! lol It would look good in the hall though......will see if I have time.

I must say I like Shaun's photos. I have been out with my camera today which is another hobby I like. I got a shot of some naughty pheasants eating a farmer's kale crop near Stanford Reservoir. I bet most of them will disappear in the Christmas and New Year break.

A tree full of fairies Ann, can't be bad, hope you have a big tree. Pop a couple in with people's presents they'll love them

Thank you Ann.

I found a horrid (to wear) necklace in a charity shop yesterday, a row of huge baubles in pearl and gold. It was only £1 and ideal for me to make more fairies so I was chuffed with my bargain! I think we will be over run with them this year, but I may give a few away.

I think Von's flowers are fabulous and I love the feather detail on them! More lovely cards from Jean too. How does she think up all the different ideas for them?

Paul, I have made a family history scrap book.

I started with the oldest member on my tree of whom I had a photo because mine is photo based. This was my Maternal Great Grandfather, I wrote about him in the 'journalling and added that to the page. As a backing for the photos of my Great Grandparents I used a photocopy of marriage and death certificates. This was one page of a 12x12 album (available from places like hobbycraft.) You can put anything on the page to decorate it. On the next page were my Maternal Grandparents, the following my parents etc etc. Then My Paternal Great Grandparents, he was a R Marine Tailor and his page is decorated with a tape measure and photos of houses where he lived.

To get the idea of how to lay out scrap book pages there are often cheap scrapbooking books in places like The Works. Or there is a magazine called Scapbook magazine which is available in Smiths, not sure how often it comes out, maybe monthly.

If you want to know any more please ask.

hey everyone.

just realised this post was here!

Its quite strange considering that i want to now put my family history down on paper, but wasnt really sure which way to do it, and was considering doing some sort of scrapbook, as i though that was a bit different.

anyone any suggestions?

thanks

Sounds lovely Lavender. I suppose you don't have a photo of the needlework you did for the blog?

Even before our twin granddaughters were born I was busy making the bedding for a lovely, wooden dolly crib I had found in a local charity shop. Eventually, after much patience I found the identical one on eb*y for just £5 and in perfect condition.

I carefully stitched two patchwork quilts, mostly new fabric, mattresses, sheets and pillows. I don't knit but found a super knitter on eb*y who made a dear little blanket and I subsequently ordered the same, both in white.

I was completely made-up with their reaction at their 2nd birthday parties recently. They played for an hour, taking everything in and out, saying 'help me, Mama', patting their babies as they added each layer. It made it all worthwhile. This evening I have got my winter sewing back out so that I will be ready for their twin Silver-Cr*ss dolly prams next year! I splashed out when they were born so that I might enjoy the stitching. I am using the Beatrix Potter fabrics I bought on the web. :-)
