Hi Ann and Pammie, talking of dies Ann, I sent off for a what I thought was a smaller butterfly I have two of the large ones and it is the same as one I have...its one of Marianne,s so if you know anyone who would like it for a fiver .....lol......which one did you get? I do like dies and have quite a few, so now am looking for some more delicate ones, there are lots of new makers coming in the market. I also have two cuttlebugs....lol.... I had one bought me and had ordered one myself the one I bought is slightly bigger than the first one ,I do manage to double up on craft stuff....will I never learn....
btw Ann did you get my last lot of cards ,cant remember if I actually pressed the send button....Look forward to seeing some of your work Pammie.....
love Jean xx ps I use a darning needle to take out all the bits left after using a die....

Yes, that would probably be better Pammy. I have just sent you the blog address.

I have just spent an hour with a new die I bought at the craft show, one by Marianne, lovely dies but there are so many little holes in them and the bits don't come out of the die so i have spent ages cleaning all the tiny bits of card and paper out of the die holes. I needed to put a card in for that one as well.

Pammy51 Report 7 Mar 2012 17:01

Sorry Ann,
I had A at the bottom, then B, 6 bits of card, the die with paper on top, then B, but thinking about it it might work even better as you described with the card in between the A and the first B plate.

I would love to have the blog website address so that I can see what others have been doing.

AnninGlos Report 7 Mar 2012 15:50

So was that from the bottom ABB?

So was that A 6sheets card B die B from the bottom up?

I am a bit confused with how you explained it Pammy.

susan yes photos would be good but I can imagine how slowly the site would move then, it can't cope as it is. That is why I have the craft blog which I can put photos on. Address by PM if you want it anyone. :-)

Had another go today and I think I have cracked it.

I used ABB with 6 pieces of card (Backs off old Christmas cards) but I put 5 of the cards under the die this time. It did mean that the die cut into the surface of the B plate a bit but the letters were cut fairly cleanly.

I am now suffering from Cuttlebuggers elbow!

It would be good to be able to add photos but just imagine how many pages this thread would have!

oooo The mouse-mat idea sounds a good one :-)

Wouldn't it be great if we could put photos in the threads

Pammy51 Report 3 Mar 2012 22:51

Well, I did get sidetracked (poor old OH has gout in his knee so needs running round after).
Tried one piece of card with ABB, no luck, got up to 6 pieces which were hard to roll through and embossed beautifully, cutting in a few places but didn't cut the letters out. I was scared to make the sandwich any thicker in case it broke my machine
I also tried it with a bit of an old mouse mat plus some card but it still didn't work.
I think I'll have to go back to the shop and see if they have any suggestions.

Pammy51 Report 3 Mar 2012 17:07

Thanks again, I'll try it now and be back in a while (unless I get carried away) :-)

AnninGlos Report 3 Mar 2012 16:57

Well I started to look through the thread from the beginning but couldn't find anything about the mouse mat. However there are sooo many pages. I got quite nostalgic, firstly because at the beginning there were several of us chatting about scrap booking and those people don't come on here now and I miss them. And then I found Daff and I miss her too so much. so I'll try again another time to find it. Meanwhile Pammy, try the card and let us know how you get on. :-)

The cuttlebug booklet suggests :- For use with non cuttlebug thin dies.
From the top CBA

I have made a note in mine:

With some dies from the top:-
B then die then B then 2 sheets of thin card then A

So I think you need to experiment with different thicknesses. Yes I have seen about the mousemat as well. Will search through and see if I can find it.

Pammy51 Report 3 Mar 2012 16:29

Thanks Ann.
I did wonder about that.
I have a vague memory of someone talking about using an old mouse mat as a shim but I'm not sure what it was with!

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 3 Mar 2012 16:11

Could you try ABB plus an extra sheet of thin card.

Pammy51 Report 3 Mar 2012 16:10

Hi
I wondered whether anyone has tried using an xcut alphabet die with a cuttlebug?
A/B/C plate 'sandwich' is too thick and A/B/B too thin :-S
Any one any ideas please?

You might be right Moonbi but it wasn't mentioned in my long chat Lol!!!!

What a shame about the birthday card, I thought it was only in UK that post went astray. Was there anything in with the card? Money? I bet he was disappointed too. Well done with the weight loss.

I have just put some more of Jean's lovely cards on the craft blog. :-) :-)

Ann
maybe the family history stall was there because a lot of scrapbookers like to present their family history in book /page form.

It seems the current trend here in my part of aus.

you certainly had fun at the fair. we have a fair here in July each year and I mostly go, as stall holders come from all the major warehouse and online businesses. last time I could hardly move there were so many people. I heard talk of the need for a larger venue under cover. that would have to be the exhibition centre I think.

Well ladied, remember the birthday card I made for my navy son.

I posted 4 days before his birthday, and he never received it.
I am so disappointed.

But Lucky i Photographed it
because now I must make another one and send again.
My daughter bought a Big Shot embossing machine, and my friend and I have been crimping lots of paper.
My recent annual medical says im ok, BP still up a little, so I am on low carb diet trying to lose another 10 kilo. already succeded with 4 kilo loss so pleased with that as I cant exercise too strenuously.

Very wet here this week. Much of nsw is flooded again. and we have a SES weather alert warning for Saturday.

Had to get my doona out of storage and put on my bed last night. Cat thought that was good.
