Thanks for that Dee, I didn't look at the site and wont now, so far not interested in digital scrapping - however I may change my mind later who knows?

Just had a look at the Avanquest website - its all digital scrapbooking software, rather than traditional hands on stuff.

However, I shall make a note of the site as I'm toying with the idea of having a go at digital scrapping.

Talking to myself here.

Just had a message from somebody who doesn't do scrapbooking but who noticed we do. She spotted an advert today and thought we might be interested. It is for a special deal on a Scrapbook Deluxe Pack.

The company are Avanquest Software and if you want their e mail address I will send it via PM.

I've been busy scrapping today - got two small (5.5" x 4") pages done for the box album of my grandmother's photos. I'd forgotten how much more challenging it is to do a small page than it is to do a big page!! I was very pleased with the results but ran out of ideas so, like you Ann, decided I was tired and called it a day. I'll have another go tomorrow but this is a project that I'm happy to take very slowly and use as a fill in when I can't think what to do with my bigger pages.

Nobody active on here tonight then. I was in town today and just had to side track into the Works to get a few more embellishments. Struggling a bit with my page on our garden, can't quite get the backing colour right. Think I am too tired tonight so will have another go tomorrow.

Linda enjoy your day out with your grandchildren, digital cameras are very forgiving if you have a halfway decent photo programme. If you use Picasa ans click the I'm feeling lucky button and the original photo is dark it will often brighten it. I am sure you will get some photos to scrap.

Hello everyone...

Jean...we have many happy memories of Saundersfoot and Tenby...we holidayed there many times when our children were young.

We our taking our 2 young grandsons (8 and 4) out for the day on Wednesday...I have my camera at the ready! I have no real aptitude for taking photos but one lives in hope lol. I take a mean photo of a headstone though lolol.

Ann I have the same problem with such lovely designed papers especially the vintage ones I use..catch 22 isn't it.

I have a brilliant one of a boat going past at sunset, I will see if I can find it.
I have quite a few of sunset and sunrises at Saundersfoot, I used to get up about 5.30 and got some great ones I also got a lovely one of a yacht in the moonlight, a friend of mine painted it in oils and gave it me....

Thank you for those Jean, as I said in the e mail I loved the one of you and Jeff with the sea behind, simple yet effective. I notice that the background paper had a large design on it, I always have a problem with this. Am playing around with a layout for the garden photos I took today, I want to use a background paper that is almost white with large stylized flowers in light teal, I love the paper but don't want the flowers to dominate, will have to have a mat for the photos but don't want to lose too much of the paper!! Difficult.

Oh, and I don't get bored looking at photos.

It is our garden Jean, not that big but crammed full of plants.
Glad you liked the page.
Don't think you showed me the American ones but not sure, what was on them?

JustJean

JustJean Report 17 Aug 2009 16:43

Thanks Ann, it is a great way to show everythiing , bit like a story, the garden is lovely, is it yours? I used to have a large garden, but we downsized houses with a view to eventually get a bungalow, but sadly it never happened daughter divorced and her and grandson came to live with us , and she is still here !! so I only have a small area at the front of the house, with shrubs and tubs..... I do miss it though....but we are soon in the country and have parks close by....btw did I show you the american ones? I cant remember......I hate old age.....lol.....

Jean just sent you a photo of the page.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 17 Aug 2009 15:25

Finished my birthday page and I am pleased with it. I read that if you use a lot of photos you should not have too many embellishments so I have stuck to that.

JustJean

JustJean Report 17 Aug 2009 13:00

Funny you should say that Dee, I have been having yet another clean outand came across photos of all the knitted dolls I used to make for orphanages on Rumania. So I will put them on a page and let you see it, I had lots of snaps of the
cards I used to make, for brownies fund raising, I made hundreds, I used to have two shops that I sold them in sale or return, but cant find them either....

Ann, I think my books will end up on the tip....lol.... my small family show no interest at all....I have just ordered some gathered lace to put round photos or anything on the pages, I saw it done when I looked on line very effective too

Keep the ideas coming ladies, we all need a jolt now and then.

My house is full of photos, I have taken them since I was eleven and my Father took them before me. But I am often stuck for ideas.

Anyone ever wonder what will happen to their scrap books after they have passed on? I think my family history one will be safe and maybe the Grandchildren ones, not so sure about the scenic ones/holidays etc though. still best to just enjoy doing them for us to look at I suppose.

Hi Jean

You don't always to have photos on a scrapbook page - you could do a scrapbook page of 'You' - ie all the things you've done in your life or all the things you would like to do. This could just be a page of different coloured journalling strips about each event. And each strip could be printed in a different font and size on the computer to add interest to the page. If you feel a page is not complete without a photo, then get hubby to take one of you to add to the page.

I've got ideas for my 'bucket list' page - ie see the Northern Lights, drive a Lamborghini, hold my first great grandchild (I'll have to wait a while for that as I've only just become a granny!!), have some boudoir shots done (what a scrapbook page that would make and how embarrassing for my children!!). I could then scrapbook each item from the bucket list as I complete them........ and turn it into my Bucket List album.
