Whoaa Ann - 145 cards is a true labour of love!! My friend Ricky offered to make cards for her mother in law last year - thinking it would be 20 or so - and ended up doing 150. She regretted making the offer not long after she started!!

It's lovely to do craft stuff with the little ones isn't it. I borrow my friend's grand-daughter from time to time to do papercrafty stuff with - she uses at least one of every embellishment in my quite considerable stash on a single card!! Her enthusiasm is infectious though.

Jean, patchwork is my first love - have been doing it for 21 years now and am still learning new techniques. I've also been teaching it for a few years now.

Has anyone tried pergamano? One of my friends keeps nagging me to have a go but it seems awfully intricate and time consuming.

Hello Ninja Lady, I missed you. I am just about to start scrap booking again having finished making about 145 Christmas cards and put all the Christmas craft stuff away. I have a few pages in my mind to do. Spent a lovely day last Saturday with 7 year old Granddaughter, she made several cards and 2 scrap book pages and was so proud of them. I took her lots of bits and pieces to use.

Hello Ladies

Sorry, haven't been on Genes in a while - wasn't going to renew my membership but having had a short break I'm back again.

I've been very busy on the patchwork front - looking after my friends quilting shop for a week (some quality sewing time in between customers), sorting out mini projects for the Thursday evening patchwork group, and sorting out the programme for the main quilt group for the next year. I've also done a brilliant workshop on hand applique (something I thought I'd never be able to master) and am now happily appliqueing a set of radical roosters!!!

Am hoping to get a scrapbooking craft day in with my friends either next weekend or the weekend after - have a couple of layouts almost there which I just need to finally stick down and embellish a bit.

Hope you've all been well and have been busy.

Linda, I have to admit that I have done that in a butterfly house as well, annoying isn't it?

Took several photos of Granddaughter doing her craft 'work' at the weekend so hope to find time to scrap them soon.

We arrived home from Anglesey at the weekend...great weather.

Daff I was thinking about you as we visited the Butterfly Palace on the island...wow some beatiful tropical butterflies.

I took many photos only to find that half of them were rather blurry...I didn't realise my camera lens had misted up with the heat of the building....doh..lolol!

I have started on my next family history project....I am doing a photo of my nan and my gt aunt (taken in their 20s) at the moment.

Thought you had gone to bed!!

Face paints Hmmm, maybe, I have got some bubbles, she loves bubbles. Actually she isn't bad at amusing herself but I will see, she does love anything to do with crafts.

Lol Ann.... not a minimalist type, am I? lolol I do love to see that, though.... and yours have a lovely calm and flow, without detracting from the energy.

Wait til you see the photos of my Christmas tree.... a shrine to glitz, glitter and OTT-ness, lolol

What about face paints? The children loved them when I worked in the school...... they often come now with *patterns* to follow....... easy peasy-ish... and of course, maybe S could have a go on Granma and/or Grampie ;¬))

Great Sarah, just had a peek. Have not done any scrapping myself lately as I want to get my Christmas cards out of the way. Then this weekend we are away looking after our two youngest grandchildren and the intention is that while OH takes Grandson to watch football Saturday 7 year old Granddaughter and I will do some crafting, hopefully card making - any tips????

Daff, your layouts are fine, we each have our own style and yours could never be minimalist. Added to which your style will evolve and what you do on the littlies LOs will be different to what you do on F History LOs.

I finally seem to have the scrapping bug again (still got a few christmas cards to make though). And more to the point am in a vintage/heritage mood. I've not managed to do a memorial page for my grandad yet but I have scrapped both sets of grandparents' wedding photos. Only saw the one photo for the first time today and I've scrapped it already.

If anyone would like to see the pages they can be found on my blog http://craftamongthelandrovers.blogspot.com/

Ann, I have just read your post.... sorry, I haven't popped in here for a while.... been up to my eyes with everything else, lol...

I will try that... it sounds good... That would bring littlie to the front...... I have a page of the paper I used for the template... if I used that, then weaved everything under the 3D'd photos... brain not working... I mean double matted, so that they stand out... and having the ribbon going under, rather than around? That does it for me, lol... I just knew it wasn't "right"

Instead of having the flowers overlapping the photos, have the photos central and more in a block with the flowers peeping from behind and also some in a group further away. Maybe enlarge one main photo and have a couple of smaller ones but don't have the flowers and butterflies 'smothering' the photos. Although that worked in the one page if you repeat it in the second it will be overpowering. Does that make sense?

MrDaff

MrDaff Report 5 Oct 2009 21:28

Yes.... but the second page is using photos of S where her face is showing more.... in the first page she is turned away or head down, lol.... the fussiness sort of lended itself to peek a boo.... but the second page needs to be more open, with her being the main focus, rather than the flowers..... does that make sense? I have glittered enough flowers and butterflies to complete about half a dozen pages, lolol.... I am still learning, though... I have gone back to M's one a couple of times, and it is growing on me now.....

Right.... think I am off for an early night.... see you all tomorrow.

AnninGlos Report 5 Oct 2009 21:21

What are you trying to capture with the second page Daff? Was that the prettiest flower in the garden page?

MrDaff

MrDaff Report 5 Oct 2009 18:36

That second page didn't look right.... it needs far less on it... oh well, I have had fun playing, lolol.

I have taken loads of photos of various craft stuff.... and tried printing it out on different colour paper for the backing on M's school page... it has muted the very bright primary colours, but not by too much, so it tones in better... I liked the ones printed on pale cream... I have torn all the edges.... what great fun, lolol!! So I will play with that tomorrow. I have had to play domestic goddess today, lolol I like that idea about the splash of her favourite colour, Ann.... she does love pink, so I shall add some of that in it.

Sarah, my heartfelt condolences on losing your grandad.

Sarah, I am so sorry to hear about your grandfather. Why not make the page a celebration of his life with small photos of the highlights that you shared with him.

Not scrapping at the moment as I am knee deep in Christmas cards.

Anyone about? Am spending most of my crafting time trying to finish my christmas cards and working on handmade pressies.
I did complete one page at the weekend although it took me ages and two attempts before i was really happy with it.
Sadly my grandfather passed away on saturday and now I am thinking about how to do a memorial page about him for my family history album
