Yes it makes sense Jan, What have you got on the page? One photo? or more, journalling? Title, date etc? Maybe it is missing something to draw you eye to the photo. flowers maybe? Colour?

Oh and congratulations on the birth of your granddaughter.

Scatty (is that Jan?)

Scrapbooking is very addictive but you don't have to be put off by what other people do. You have to do it to please you. I read a lot of the scrap book magazines and think, yes that looks great, but when I come to do my pages I realise that one photo is not enough for me, I need more than one photo to tell my stories.

Have just started scrapbooking :-) OMG addictive or what - I thought mine were preety good but then I look at other sites!! it took me a few days to have the confidence to actually stick something down then I did 3 pages one after other :-))

Finished the page, all snowy and glittery, very pretty!! Not a lot of journalling, not a lot you can say about snow. I have listed the birds we had in the garden though as there are a couple of bird photos.

Think I am catching it off Daff, just put glitter all over my snow photos!!

Thanks daff. I stick ribbon with double sided tape, it seems to work. You should know me, not enough room for snow drifts on the page - One large photo and 7 small ones!!!!

Hiya Ann... I love ribbon, and was a bit upset when every glue I used either didn't stick it, or showed through... so I tend to either hide it with an embellishment.... or use pretty brads to hold it in place. I have scoured magazines to see how others do it... and they do the same... some even staple it in place... I used flowers with glitter brads on the last page I did, that had 1 1/2 inch gold mesh ribbon, with wired edges, and I used it as an extra wide border along two edges.... it seems to have worked well. I think it has, anyway!

Daff

Or pleat it in a wave so that it symbolises a snow drift.....

Just about to start on a 'snow' page. Bought some gorgeous 2.5inch white silky ribbon half price in the garden centre this morning, it has sparkly blue outline trees on it, would be very suitable if I can work out how to incorporate it. (3 metres for £1.50)

I sort have have this feeling that those large pages cry out for several photos otherwise it is an opportunity lost Lol!!!

Rather like a decorated photo album. still I like it how I do it and that is all that matters I think.

Thanks Ann, it's a bit difficult to describe and also difficult to picture someone elses work when you don't know them as everyone has their own style of working . Your pages sound like how I normally do mine as I always put more than the usual 1 photo usually at least 3 on a page so I don't expect my albums are really the standard scrapbooks, but I like them and that's my style.
My next one will be the one of my grandparents and then I have some more of my grandchildren to do.
bye for now

Hello Ann and everyone,
I have laid out my page for my parents wedding photo, I have chosen a 12x12 page with a Lilac and Beige border with Lilac roses at the top and bottom of the page ( moms favourite colours) and it goes well with sepia photo. I have a small felt church which i shall put the name of the church around and add some tiny roses that make a tiny bouquet for the one corner, I also have a topper of weddings rings on a bible which will be in the other corner, hopefully with a small piece of journelling it will be ok just to stick everything down now.

Of course you can join us Sara, you are very welcome. Sometimes the thread stays dormant for ages, then it perks up again as we all have a mad few moments crafting. I too make cards and scrap. Have you been scrapping for very long? What subjects do you scrap and what is your style?

Sara Report 23 Jan 2010 14:22

Hi
I have just found this thread and wondered if you mind me joining you. I am a card maker and scraper. I have got lots of bits started but never seem to finish any before I move on.

Well done Linda the pages sound wonderful. Lovely scrapping Grandchildren isn't it?

Daff, I envy you having a whole week to take photos. What lots of scrapping opportunities that will give you.

After many weeks I am back to scrapping..yes!!

I have finally finished a 2 page layout of our latest grandson...I couldn't decide which photos to us hence 2 pages. I also couldn't decide on the layouts so I had the card, papers and all kinds of embellishments on my desk for at least a week!

Anyway I am really pleased with the results...in different shades of blue and white...the finished pages look so clean and bright. I had to incorporate my favourite embellishment which is flowers and like you Daff added ribbon, brads, jewels and I also like to use buttons. I also added a few minute blue and white ladybirds on the petals. I bought a packet of different coloured ladybirds in a sale at Hobbycraft last year...I just knew they would come in handy lol.

Talking of buttons my mum (88) had a huge sweet tin of buttons which were no use to her anymore and wondered if I would like them...like them I was there like a shot. Even my daughter immediately piped up that I would use them for scrapbooking lol. I haven't had chance yet to take a good look but I know many belonged to my dear nan and also my dear gt grandma (I was 15 when she sadly died...how blessed I was to know her). I always remember my nan would cut buttons off garments that were no longer in use and possibly recycle them on to another garment...how times have changed. A simple tin of buttons to cherish!!

I hope you all have a lovely weekend..

Linda x

Ann, your pages are lovely.... they don't look overcrowded or overfull with photos, at all... and compared to mine, they are very minimalistic, lol.

I have moved away most of my bits and bobs... mainly the bits that a 3 1/2 year old will find attractive, but that would do her nasty damage should she play with them. I have re-arranged the marble table with all her stuff on it.... found an old tee shirt (from when I was a much smaller bunny, lol) to cover her this time... and now the conservatory is ready to kindergarten craft!

The page I wrecked last week, I have managed to salvage today, and I am really really pleased with it... full of bling, of course.... glitter, jewels, brads, ribbon etc... but I am very happy with the effect.

I still have the New Year ones, and then Christmas will be over for me, too. Well..... it might be... I have a bit of an idea germinating, so I think I shall just let it grow for a day or so.... I can use the dining table while Littlie is at the marble table... watch this space. ;¬))

Love

Daff xxxx

We are going to see Holiday on Ice in a couple of weeks... so I think I might have something for that... and this next week should be full of inspiration.
