Jude, what don't you understand?

Just passing by so I have popped in to say hello. I am doing a 10 week course on jewellery beading.......does anyone else do that? I am finding it very interesting and we made tiaras last week and flower spray brooches. One week we will be crocheting wire to make a small beaded bracelet.

I have had a pack of card blanks in the cupboard for 12 months now and not used them. I do photography too and wanted to print some with photos I have taken but I don't know if my printer can be adjusted to take the card! Typical of me, I hit a problem and back in the cupboard it goes!

I checked the list of my watched threads (bookmarked on here) and on each one I was the last to post, going right back to threads with a last post of 10 November so, if I posted a reply, I was talking to myself. But it is not important. :-) :-)

Annx beadwork is very clever and you can make some lovely things but I think it might be a bit fiddly for me.

A way of using photos on cards is to print the photo off separately, mount it on coloured card so there is a small 'frame' around the photo and stick it on the card blank. This can look quite effective.

That sounds like an interesting course. I'm going on a course after chrismas making jewellery using fused glass.
I'm doing a craft fair in a couple of weeks and I've been making some necklaces from fabric that I have printed.
When I get a chance I'll put some photos on the blog. Small technical hitch I have to take them first!!!! :-) :-) :-)

That sounds good too Von. I have also signed up for a 5 week class in January where we used all recycled things to make jewellery. Things like buttons, nuts and bolts, broken things, buckles and fabric. We will make a felted bag in that class too (I am told), covered in bead flowers.

I did a free 'taster' session in this not thinking I would actually do it......but there you go!!

But its bee a few weeks since i sat at my machine or made a card.

I have been unwell for a few weeks,

My daughter does beading jewelry and makes some lovely things for gifts to cousins etc. she has a good eye for detail and loves fiddly things. alas she doesn't sew.

It is great to get new talent on this thread and on the blog. Please stay with us and tell us more as you go along. Ann's beadwork is now on the blog. Please take photos of yours Von and when you are ready e mail me the photos (I don't think it will let you put them on yourself. Also you need patience as the blog site has been playing up a bit recently. If you have not got my e mail address let me know when you are ready and I will send it to you.

Sorry you have not been well Moonbi, hope you soon feel better. I must say the cards and quilts I have seen on the blog are very impressive. What patience and brilliant imaginations you all must have.

I knitted 2 stripey christmas socks to hang up last year BC and wasn't sure what would happen with the 'heels'!! lol. They did come out quite well at the finish but it helped doing the heels bright red and I had to tick off each row as I did it or I'm sure I'd have gone wrong. I wasn't impressed when I found OH trying them on though......clipped his ear!!

Annx, I love the necklace and tiara, you must have some patience to sit and do all that intricate work. Well done! Hope you will put some more of your work on Ann's blog as it's nice to see all the different things that everyone can make.

Sallie you are right, it is good to see different crfts on here. I wonder if anyone else does beadwork or jewellery making.

Thank you Sallie and Von. It is actually much easier than I expected to be honest. Mind you, we have only threaded onto wire up to now and I suspect using thread would be more tricky. I have been scrounging broken jewellery from friends and family and have bought quite a few things from Charity shops, just to get the beads! The good thing I like is being able to make necklaces the right length for me......ones I buy are often too long. For tomorrow's class we have to take a piece of pole to wind thick wire around for a bracelet, so I better go and have a root around in the garage!! Last resort will be the frying pan handle!!

Bits of plastic plumbing pipes are excellent for this if you have any friends who are plumbers. :-D

Thank you for that Von.......I do believe we might have a bit the plumbers left when they did the bathroom. It would be just the ticket!!

Goodness you learn a lot on this thread, who'd have thought that making jewellery would involve plumbing piping?

hello all.
been off the boards for a couple of days as I just cant think properly.
Dr said I have lung infection, bronchitis and sinusitis. Am on 2 different types of antibiotics.
One so big I can hardly swallow it, but not allowed to break it.
the other small enough.
I have to take for 1 repeats and then go back for another checkup.
Its the headaches and the coughing that does me in. and I have to sleep sitting up in my lazyboy.

I would love to get back to my sewing, and alas my christmas cards are on hold just when I wanted to get them written up early.

I love the chunky necklace that Annx has made with the big wooden beads.
