God luck at the dentist Daff, mine is tomorrow!!

What effect are you looking for, maybe we can help. You don't need too heavy card for printing off photos, at least my printer doesn't like heavy card. Enjoy your trip to hobbycraft. I am just about to bite the bullet and do the monthly household accounts, the washing is finished, the dishwasher emptied and the kitchen cleared up so no more excuses Lol!!!!

Ann, it is a series of 3D petals... the background, I mean... and with little photos of Littlie peeking out from them, sort of like a fairy would..... but the whole background is one big flower rather than a series of little ones....... it would need to be a rose or the peony... they are the ones with enough petals... Somewhere I have some photos I took once of the dragonflies, plus some butterflies from years ago... I shall find those... I think they are on a thingy you plug in, but not sure which one.

I'll have a play with that this afternoon.... I am out all day tomorrow, one way and another, so sitting and gluing in between will keep me rested but active, lol So tomorrow I will finish at least one more page! I tend to get a bit nervous of actually starting... I have always been a bit like that when I was quilting and dressmaking..... fine once I got going, but worried for days before I started... unless it was a sudden spurt... I have been known to be sitting on the transport to a function, finishing off the hem of an outfit I started that morning, lol

Right.... lets go and have a browse through all my plug in thingies!!

Love

Jean, When you have a photo that is dark try the I'm feeling lucky button, then slide the brightener button and you can sometimes lighten it right up.

Well..... I have a room full of mess, and a sore finger from cutting out..... I haven't glued yet, so am not stuck to anything...... and have toned down my grandiose ideas... but in doing so I think I have begun to create a much simpler but more effective double page spread!!

I love it! I have found a lovely bold patterned paper... bought it a couple of weeks ago as part of one of my forays, lol.... and I have cut out the butterflies and flowers, scanned printed them onto fine card...... cut out loads of strips of a couple of complementary papers.... now I have to decide which of the lovely photos to cull.... I want the lot.. there are 6, but it is a double page 12 x 12 spread, so I think I shall get away with it.

Now I need to figure out how to do the journalling... I thought maybe customize a tag into a sort of plant label, lol I hope to finish it tomorrow... I am so tired now... but I will finish it, I am determined now.

Must go... R is home from work, and I was supposed to do the domestic goddess thing... kitchen looks more like the magician's apprentice has got to it!!

Don't rush it Daff, things go wrong if you rush Lol!!!

6 photos on a double page is workable (* says she who crams as many as possible onto a page*)

Sounds good anyway. You could make a label on a stick if you had a lolly stick.

Haven't done any scrap booking as I have been making birthday cards. made them now up until December so that I can start on my Christmas cards when we come back from Dorset on 19th.

Haven't done any crafting - daughter-in-law has come down with swine flu so I've had baby grandson for the past couple of days and maybe for another couple. Unlike Daff, the only sticky stuff I'm coming into contact with is banana porridge!!

I have been begging OH to bring home some sandpaper from the workshop for the past couple of days so I can sand the edges of my photos for the Thorpe Park page but he has the memory of a fish - looks like a trip to the Range tomorrow, strictly to the DIY section although I'm sure I'll be tempted with a quick detour to the crafts if grandson is in a good enough mood.

Sorry to hear about your daughter in law, hope she only has a mild dose of it and that baby or you don't get it.

I have never shaded the edges of photos yet something else to try.

Morning all.... Ninja Lady, I do hope your DiL is well again soon... I love my granddaughters to bits, but they are very hard work, lol Even when they are good and easy to entertain, lol.

Ann, I promise I won't rush it... it is looking really good this morning... I love it... I want to print off some more of the butterflies and flowers, as I want to surround all the photos with them... and I need to put them onto thicker card too... I have some, somewhere... I think R might have it in his pc room, I'll go and look later. What should I use as the antennae? I think I have some gold picture wire somewhere.... would that do? And how would I fix it? The bodies of the butterflies are brown felt..... I am intending to stitch those in place.

I want to attach some organza ribbon, sort of twirled and cascading down and around the photos and trailing across to act as a sort of link... would double sided tape be enough to keep it in place, do you think?

Around the edge of the pages, I also want to add some more ribbon, but threaded.... I only have a double hole punch of the sort used for paperwork, lol.... I suppose that would be ok, too..... I don't want to go out today...... but feel I might have to go and get some more of the green organza, lolol.... Any old excuse, I do love the shopping bit of this... and some of those websites... wow!!!

I bought a set of sandwich type storage boxes in A*** the other day... some of them are really tiny, £3.00 for a set of about 10 boxes I think, but they have been sooooo useful... I have been putting all my loose bits and pieces neatly into them... and the one size has been perfect for holding all the bits I am going to use on these pages so they are tidy (ish) and separate from the rest of my bits. It has helped reduce the clutter on my table.

Now... lets go and do some swearing so that I will feel saintly and not guilty when I get engrossed in it all... Dinner is already in the slow cooker, lol

I'm pretty sure OH and I had it back in July - we didn't realise what it was at the time but in retrospect all the symptoms are the same, although we just thought it was a summer cold. I'm hoping youngest son doesn't get it as he's in has last year at school and can't afford to miss any lessons, although he didn't get it when we had it - mainly because he's at that unsociable age and spends all his time in his room!!

It's day 4 since daughter-in-law started showing symptoms so I would have thought grandson would have been poorly by now if she'd infected him. Hopefully we've managed to avert that little crisis.

I think I've earned myself a little trip to the Range this morning - we'll see how much shopping I can get done with an 8 month old in tow! Probably not a lot.

EDIT - I love the winter Daff when I can put a casserole in the oven at 2pm on low and its beautifully cooked when OH gets in from work and I look like I've been a domestic goddess all day!!!

Actually having grandson here has made me a bit more organised. Got son off to school and then put grandson down for a sleep this morning and then launched myself into the ironing while he was safely in his cot. So that makes me ahead of the housework and I can scrapbook over the weekend with a clear conscience!

Double sided tape might show through the organza ribbon Daff - you could attach the ribbon with brads or tuck the ends under a photo or journalling tag and attach it with tape where it won't show.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 10 Sep 2009 12:43

As Ninja lady says Daff, the tape might show through the ribbon. Cut a bit off and experiment. other wise attach it behind something. The tape should keep it in place if you are putting it inside a cover. With the butterflies yes picture wire might do, you could attach it behind the top of the butterfly, or if you have metallic thread could you maybe stitch it on with back stitch?
You can actually buy a punch that cuts two holes for threading through, then you have to space it down the page of course. If the ribbon is not too wide a two hole punch would do but you would have to be careful not to tear the paper.

Goodness, you are much more ambitious than me!!! Talk about running before walking Lol!!!!

Not doing much craft work today, can't concentrate until I have been to the hospital and that is not until 4.20pm.
