Thank you for those Jean, as I said in the e mail I loved the one of you and Jeff with the sea behind, simple yet effective. I notice that the background paper had a large design on it, I always have a problem with this. Am playing around with a layout for the garden photos I took today, I want to use a background paper that is almost white with large stylized flowers in light teal, I love the paper but don't want the flowers to dominate, will have to have a mat for the photos but don't want to lose too much of the paper!! Difficult.

Oh, and I don't get bored looking at photos.

I have a brilliant one of a boat going past at sunset, I will see if I can find it.
I have quite a few of sunset and sunrises at Saundersfoot, I used to get up about 5.30 and got some great ones I also got a lovely one of a yacht in the moonlight, a friend of mine painted it in oils and gave it me....

Hello everyone...

Jean...we have many happy memories of Saundersfoot and Tenby...we holidayed there many times when our children were young.

We our taking our 2 young grandsons (8 and 4) out for the day on Wednesday...I have my camera at the ready! I have no real aptitude for taking photos but one lives in hope lol. I take a mean photo of a headstone though lolol.

Ann I have the same problem with such lovely designed papers especially the vintage ones I use..catch 22 isn't it.

Linda enjoy your day out with your grandchildren, digital cameras are very forgiving if you have a halfway decent photo programme. If you use Picasa ans click the I'm feeling lucky button and the original photo is dark it will often brighten it. I am sure you will get some photos to scrap.

Nobody active on here tonight then. I was in town today and just had to side track into the Works to get a few more embellishments. Struggling a bit with my page on our garden, can't quite get the backing colour right. Think I am too tired tonight so will have another go tomorrow.

I've been busy scrapping today - got two small (5.5" x 4") pages done for the box album of my grandmother's photos. I'd forgotten how much more challenging it is to do a small page than it is to do a big page!! I was very pleased with the results but ran out of ideas so, like you Ann, decided I was tired and called it a day. I'll have another go tomorrow but this is a project that I'm happy to take very slowly and use as a fill in when I can't think what to do with my bigger pages.

Talking to myself here.

Just had a message from somebody who doesn't do scrapbooking but who noticed we do. She spotted an advert today and thought we might be interested. It is for a special deal on a Scrapbook Deluxe Pack.

The company are Avanquest Software and if you want their e mail address I will send it via PM.

Just had a look at the Avanquest website - its all digital scrapbooking software, rather than traditional hands on stuff.

However, I shall make a note of the site as I'm toying with the idea of having a go at digital scrapping.

AnninGlos Report 19 Aug 2009 09:47

Thanks for that Dee, I didn't look at the site and wont now, so far not interested in digital scrapping - however I may change my mind later who knows?

Just had a load of craft stuff delivered, need to find some where to store it !!
I havent a craft room anymore just a small cupboard, so I try and find stoage containers to streamline the whole thing....

That was a late delivery Jean. was it containers that you had or stuff to put in containers?

CherryBlossom

CherryBlossom Report 19 Aug 2009 22:02

Ooh lucky us - we're all having nice craft deliveries tonight. My friends have just come back from Florida with lots of goodies from Walmart for me. Before they left I ordered online so they could pick it up in store for me - deep cut housing and blades for the Cricut so I can cut chipboard, replacement normal blades, replacement cutting mats and a couple of font cartridges plus a cartridge for die cutting things like butterflies, snowflakes and other accent die cuts. I'm a very happy bunny now!

Can't wait to have a play tomorrow.

Hello everyone..

We had such a brilliant day out with our grandsons I just had to tell you.

We took them to the Manchester Airport Aviation Viewing Park...the highlight of the day was to be able to view and board THE Concorde G-BOAC in its specially built hanger. Each family party was given a Concorde boarding pass.

We were sat in the front seats whilst the tour guide (who was absolutely brilliant) told us all about the old bird. During his talk he told my eldest grandson that he was sitting in the seat that was always used by the Queen! There was a young boy of about 12 sat behind us with his granddad and he was told that he was sitting in the seat that Michael Jackson always sat in....you should have seen his face it was a picture.

I had my camera at the ready however my eldest grandson J decided he was in charge of the camera...he loves taking photos and he took some really good ones!! I have strict instructions to download and print out asap lol so he can put them on his bedroom wall along with the boarding pass! J had never heard of the Concorde before but he really thought it was so "cool"!! I will be able to get a lovely couple of pages out of the photos using 3 or more on each page...a first for me...plus a copy of the boarding pass and the entry receipt into the park itself.

Well done Jean, glad you got a good nights sleep.

Ninja Lady, hope they didn't have to pay for extra luggage Lol!!! Did it work out a lot cheaper? When we last went the pound was very strong and I got some great craft bargains at Walmart.

Linda, sounds like a day full of memories and well worth scrapping, I too would love to see the pages when you have done them. My Grandsons used to love taking photos when they were younger (well the oldest still does and he is now 21.

We went onboard the concorde test plane at the Fleet Air Arm Museum and were amazed at how compact the interior was.

I'm really pleased that my latest bout of scrapping included three pages with two photos on each. I think i am really getting back in to the idea of putting more photos on my pages after ages of concentrating on just one.

Hi Ann

No I was kind to my friends and only ordered very small, lightweight items. However, they got the shock of their life when they picked the stuff up from Walmart - two HUGE boxes!! Luckily Walmart were generous with their packing but they'd put two 6"x12" cutting boards for the Cricut in one extremely large box. My friends almost had a heart attack when they saw the size of the box and wondered how on earth they were going to get the stuff back - until they opened it and saw what was inside.

And yes, it was much cheaper to do it this way - the Cricut cartridges are something like £55.00+ over here and Walmart were charging $60.00 which is something like £37.50. Fortunately Mike goes to America quite a lot so I'll probably repeat the exercise later this year.

Can't wait to get home from work and have a play with my new toys. Did one more little page for my grandmother's box album yesterday - her wedding photo in 1941. I must have her over to tell me all the stories of these photos so I can write them up and put them on the back of the pages.

About 15 years ago we went up to Heathrow for the day as OH's brother-in-law had bought his parents a flight + lunch on Concorde for their wedding anniversary. I couldn't believe how noisy it was when it took off!!

I am about to embark on my first double page spread, lolol

My problem is what to leave out... I do tend to be a more is best sort of girl, lolol

I have some stunning photos of my granddaughter, aged 3, watering the plants, intense concentration in every line of her... you can't see her face in many of them, but that seems to add to the enchantment!! I wanted to call that *The Prettiest Flower in my Garden*

But then there was our trip to Barry Island.... some lovely ones of her on the merry go round..........

And then there are the ones of her playing on her sand and water tray.....

I don't want the pages to be too busy....

but I don't want to miss anything out... so it may be *a page a day* lol.... and I shall use the scans of her drawings to add as backgrounds......

well... off to give it a whirl!!

Love

Daff xxxxxx

Oh Daff - the photos sound lovely.

Good luck with your pages - I would suggest scrapping each event separately - one double page for the garden, one for the merry-go-round, etc - well, that's what I would do if they were my photos.

The idea of using her drawings as the background is brilliant!! Must remember that one.
