Bet nobody is doing much craft stuff this week. I did make a card for Grandson's fiancees birthday in January but other than that, after making so many christmas cards I seem to have come to a stop.

I don't suppose you'd have made any fewer cards if you'd found them before Jean, you'd probably just have given more to charity. Make a note on next years calendar as to where they are. :-D

Somebody who can crochet please. Can you recommend an easy to learn from book for a complete beginner?

Von

Von Report 27 Dec 2012 17:49

Ann
I'd be inclined to go to somewhere like Hobbycraft and look through the books because often they say for beginners but are still complicated.

The magazine that came out earlier this year was very good and really was basic. Even though I knew how to crotchet it was still helpful.

The other possibility is watching a You tube video. You will need to Google but there are plenty available.
Is it for you?
Take care

So, who had crafty presents for Christmas then? I had three dies, one a frame and various silhouettes. and two Memory box dies, Chloe butterfly and La Rue Flourish, plus some marbled paper and a pack of Art Deco papers and some Art Deco toppers, hopefully this afternoon I shall have time to have a play with them all. I also had £30 of Hobbycraft vouchers to spend.

:-D :-D

I am sure someone else must have had craft supplies as presents so do please share your good fortune. :-)

Hi Ann
Lucky you getting Hobbycraft vouchers. I'm sure i could spend any amount three times over :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

I had some neocolor watersoluble crayons. I've still to experiment with them
I also had Val Holmes's Collage,Stitch and Print book. It's about Collagraphy.

Did you have any luck with the crotchet instructions?
Take care
Von

Not been anywhere to look yet Von, except Amazon where there are a couple with good reviews. Might go for one of those. If I don't strike while the iron is hot (so to speak) I will probably go off the boil and not get around to it.

Yes I shall have no trouble spending any of my gift cards.

The crayons sound interesting I will be looking forward to hearing about them. and I expect Jude will be envious of the book. :-D

I have a shoe box filled with all sorts; tube of silicone glue, stitch designer floral border template, 3 rolls of black and white washbi tape, paper clips people shapes, glitter foam alpha shapes, pink gauze ribbons, packet of C3 envelopes, and milk and honey hand cream, box of chocolates to nibble while I craft.
Happy New Years to all, hope its a good one.

Morning fellow crafters, hope you are all raring to go into another year of crafting, Moonbi what a great box of stuff, .....lucky you Ann lots of lovely vouchers to spend I love vouchers, but for some reason my lot never get me any.....
I did however get the Grand Calibru off J, I have the big shot also, and the cuttlebug which I want to get rid of.... we cant move for machines :-D :-D
not really in the mood for crafting though, sad time for us , dear friend died on the 27th.....
I have some pennies to spend on new stuff when I get round to it , I have some new dies on order too...at the moment we are getting rid of lots of old crockery and many bowls and other kitchen stuff, some we have had for many years, and I have to say I dont really want to part with some of them, but clean sweep needed....so Happy New Year everyone,
lots of new ideas on the crafting scene so look forward to hear some of your new craft Ideas....

Jean, lucky you having the grand calibur for a present, I did have a little play with daughter's, also a Christmas present and it seemed very easy to turn after the Cuttlebug but, as you know, I am torn and still wondering which to buy for a second one.

China!!!!! I have loads, but it is very occasionally used. I am sure I could get rid of some of it but it is so heavy to take to a charity shop and I don't know anyone else who wants it. What are you doing with yours?

JustJean

JustJean Report 1 Jan 2013 18:24

I have just used my big shot and wasnt sure if what I wanted to do would work on it but it has, if I need to do large cards the G/C will do them , but I do love the big shot.... very easy to use turning the handle is smooth and easy....I feel sure I will use both machines although the big shot will be used more, so no longer need the cuttlebug , if there is any interest in it P.M me....

re; the crockery I have it all on a table in my craft room so if the neighbours or visitors want any they can take their pick afterwards we will drop some off at various charity shops litttle by little....the bowls are already earmarked by my neighbour, and some of the cutlery,The prices in the stores now makes it easy to have a change , Dun***m have very good offers on.....havent been to the Range yet but they will no doubt have a sale on too.....hope there is some craft stuff...

Just used the Big Shot with a new spell binder die I ordered, one of the fancy label ones and then used it on the Memory box one with the solo shim addition and it worked very well. So I am pleased with it now.

Better get back to doing a few more scrap book pages for grandson's 21st book.

Well done getting the thread back.... and well done doing your die cuts, I have been playing with the new Sp*********s dies, the one that you can emboss with as well as cut with, looks nice but takes a lot of fiddling with all the bits and pieces, I have manage to do some cards one with the expandable die cut, will send the pics a.s.p. enjoy your scrapping Ann...
