That is when I wish I could crochet or still did knitting (or had time to) as I love wools and yarns).

Ann, I use either the brass templates or the new 6x6 plastic ones, smooth a layer of paste over the design, lift off carefully then sprinkle fine glitter and leave to dry xx

Would anyone like a ticket for the Knitting & Stitching Show at Alexandra Palace in October?

I have a spare ticket as my friend can't go now. I am going on the 12th but it is valid for any day 11th-14th.
I originally put this on a cross stitch thread, but no takers as yet!

Morning Island and Everyone, Strange isn't it. As soon as I saw Claire's posting, I thought of you for the ticket. Why don't you go. I would if I was on the doorstep.

It's a wonderful show, with something for everyone who loves creative sewing etc.

I couldn't go last year as we had just moved, but I am driving down from Suffolk with my comfy shoes, shopping list and a bit of spending money! Heaven!!!

Hi Island

Do you live in London? I used to be in Walthamstow so it was only 20mins to the show, but am now in sunny Suffolk!

If you want more info about the show, go to the Twisted Thread website and see whats on offer - it's got everything you can imagine and more besides, and the showcases of people's work are wonderful. (Do I sound like an advert?)

Honestly, it's just a lovely day out if you are interested in anything creative, and I used to prefer this show to Olympia, although I love that as well!

If you're not tempted enough, then I hope someone else will be as it's a shame to waste a ticket when there are so many crafty people out there!

If not, I will just stand on the steps outside and wave my ticket about!!

Claire

Wave it at me Claire!

Yes, I live in London and can see Ally Pally from my window - we get a good view of the firework display :-D

It's ages since I've been to the Knitting and sewing show so would love to take up your offer.
Funnily enough I was about to place an order for some yarns online so I think I'll wait....

Claire Report 26 Sep 2012 12:12

Hi Island

The ticket is yours!!

I used to live in Tottenham when I was a puppy, and went to school in Hornsey so everyday I trundled through the grounds of Ally Pally on the bus...I loved the building even then.

Do you want me to post the ticket to you which may be best if you want to go another day, or meet there on Friday , I won't be there until midmorning as it takes about hour and half from where I live.

And Von, perhaps I could join you for a coffee if you are there on Friday?

Let me know....

Off to tidy up the spare room as it looks like a hurricanes hit it so won't be back on boards for a few hours.

Claire

Claire Report 27 Sep 2012 10:28

Hi All

Finished tidying and got a lot sorted, so now I have a lovely free day to sort out my little sewing room and rummage through all my crafty bits and bobs.

So many things on my To Do list, I'll have to live for another hundred years at least ...

Jude I do hope your classes continue, you'll have such a great time. I've done lots of classes - mosaics, paint effects, ceramics etc but the best was stained glass and I've now got all the equipment to carry on myself. I have an idea to make glass panels for the garden - sounds weird but I know what I mean! Also I did ceramics for 20plus years, and sold stuff at craft fairs etc. The removal men last year were not impressed when I asked them to pack the 2 kilns!!!

I'm mainly into cross stitch now, and all sorts of sewing. I've just finished a lovely antique style seafarers chart that I'm going to turn into a cushion, and a halloween sampler, and have just started a beautiful heart design by Lesley Teare with hellebores and thistles and snowflakes on it, all on linen. Heaven!!

Island, I will PM you to arrange getting the ticket to you! Look forward to meeting up with you and Von.

I don't often post on the boards but it is so nice to chat to other crafty people.

Thanks Claire. Friday is great for me. I look forward to meeting you - I'm sure I met Von at Wetherspoons in Victoria in March (?)

Don't mean to butt into a conversation, but as Island is currently on here I thought I would just pop onto tell her something.
ISLAND, I have mastered that loop stitch now, but cannot work at any pace whilst doing it. I wound the wool anit-clock wise around my finger, and it worked.
TO EVERYONE, I am crocheting the fleece for a sheep (toy). and it calls for the wool to be wound around the finger, to make the loops of it's coat. Never cared for this stitch whilst knitting those loopy cardingans that were fashionable when my daughters were young. But this is in crochet. Still, is is mastered now, so my little great grandaughter will have her " Errol the Sheep" for Christmas. LOLOL

Thanks Everyone
