We have a box that is hidden in amongst a lot of branches. The previous owners must have have put it up.We did have Blue Tits that nested in it for several years, but next doors cat was always climbing up the branches to investigate :-S.It hasn't been used now for a few years and we can't get to it to take it down and clean it as it is almost hidden . |

Foggy, it is lovely. I think it doesn't always matter how close they are but make sure that the cats can't lie in wait for the fledglings when they first fly. Somebody may know the answer to this but I think the birds preder the box to be facing a certain direction but not sure if it is North or South. |

Hi Tecwyn and AnninGlos, |

How big is the entrance hole foggy? The inside would appear to be a good size (10" diameter? It sounds as if either w wren or maybe a blue tit is making its nest there. Let us know if you find out? |

Foggy - I think there's every chance a bird would make a nest in the box you've made. I don't think the thickness off the walls would make any difference, except to keep the nest warmer and draught free. |
