Just have to say we used to live not far from Biggleswade.

I have been trying to get a pic of the baby blue tit being fed by Mum on the coconut.It is so sweet ,but every time I get near they scoot off :-S.Not looking hopeful for a photo.
We are being woken every morning at some unearthly hour by a Magpie.It sounds like it must be in the hedge right next to our bedroom :-S Not good at 4.30am :-| :-| :-| :-|

Jane, we went to the one at Biggleswade for 'the experience' and a wonderful time it was too. I was not looking forward to holding dead day old chicks but (phew) we just donned the glove and stuck our arms out while the keeper held a bit of meat to tempt the birds over.
We got to hold several birds and played with a condor! That was great :-D
It was much bigger than your average budgie LOL

Island ,no it's not the Biggleswade one.It was a place out somewhere near Stamford I think.I will have to ask my son.Both him and his girlfriend really enjoyed having the various birds land on their arms.Not so keen on holding dead baby chicks though for them to eat :-S

Jane, is it the Bird of Prey Centre at Biggleswade? I've got a photo of that owl :-D I'll see if I got the name in shot.

That owl is a right HOOT isn't it Jude :-D ;-).Just wish I knew what kind it is .The other pic is a Russian Step Eagle.

It does look funny Ann and it manages to get some big bits of suet out each time.Lots of young Blue Tits and Great Tits on the Coconut too.No Long Tailed ones for a long time now though.

I think we do have a number of youngsters Ann,even if they look bigger than their parents lol
I have had a Squirrel back today .Not the Earless one.I haven't seen that one for a couple of weeks now.I am wondering if this one might possibly be a young one :-D.There is a young Blackbird that just loves the Suet Cake in the cage.it stands underneath and then takes a big leap up to grab some.Looks like it is on a Pogo Stick :-D :-D

We don't seem to have that many young birds so far this year, although there is rather a large flock of young starlings which visit the garden en mass

My son and girlfriend went to a Falconry yesterday.Have just downloaded a lot of great pics.
Jude I will send you a few tomorrow .See what you fancy to go on your blog.To be honest I have over a hundred that they took ,so it is going to be a difficult choice as what to send you, :-S :-S

Have sent Jude a couple of photos of some ducks that came into our enclosed back garden at the begining of May.

Had an unusual experience last week. Opened the front door fairly early one morning and this magpie swooped across the road and more or less invited itself in. Seemed to have little fear of humans so someone must have been looking after it. It was only a youngster.

Don't mention Magpies!!! I am finding so many little broken eggs on my lawn :-( :-(

my neighbours have a web cam in the bluetit nesting box at the end of their garden - eight babies - great fun to watch!!

I'm working out how I can throttle two magpies in my garden - their beaks are on the go from dawn til dusk!!!!!
